Rapamycin: What Blood Tests are you all doing?

Hello,

I hope this has not been discussed somewhere else, if so, a link would be greatly apricated.

My questions is what specific blood tests would you all recommend after a 3 month 8mg per week rapamycin cycle?

The reason: I was listing to this: https://youtu.be/h0zMyrYbFZ8?si=b3Nl6v0iiW2W8Nv-&t=1181
#timestamp and thought id put it to the community.

Matt Kaeberlein mentions the following:

  • Glucose / insulin
  • Fasting Glucose
  • A1C
  • CBC Cam
  • Lipids
  • “want to know what the cell count looks like” - not sure what he is talking about. :innocent:
  • Kidney Liver function
  • Bonus: Comprehensive Hormones
  • Inflammatory markers - what tests are these?

Thanks,
S

I’ll let others give you a more specific answer to your question that is rapa related… but…

For general health, if you’ve never done so, it’s a good idea to test Lp(a) … it’s a one time test. If it’s elevated, it shows you that you want to keep your lipids lower than one who has less risk

Vit d is a good test to have if you have no idea where you are.

If you are plant based, I’d get b12 to make sure your levels are sufficient.

Once every 12-18 months, I run a Life Extension Male Elite comprehensive battery as listed below. A quick estimate is that it includes 75-80 specific tests in all.

In-between, I run an occasional one-off test or two following up in anything I didn’t like in the Elite to see if I have improved it. I’m going to add an occasional specialized test for arterial inflammation. You can find in the LE list of tests.

It is now possible to buy 1 session (10 days) of a continuous glucose Monitor in the USA OTC. I think having this record for normal eating is a useful baseline.

There is no need to run a CGM all the time, but knowing what tends to happen is quite useful.

The inflammatory markers are things like CRP (C-reactive protein) which is important to keep low, generally speaking.

I recommend you review these past discussions related to blood testing:
