Anyone takes NAC? Plus maybe Glycine? Extends mouse lifespan by 24%. Glycine extends mouse lifespan by 5% in ITP study

I take high dose GlyNAC, while waiting for more studies to be published.

Couple questions:

  1. why on and off, is it one of those things that needs to be done say for couple months once per year?
    and
  2. Are you able to notice any positive effects, or is it the case where you know it might be doing something good but not easy to pinpoint (like most other substances/supplements)?

What is a high dose? Alan Green, MD, now departed, citing this study:

For me a high dose is a dose close to 100 mg/kg body weight of each substance. (Glycine and acetylcystein)

I am using 2400mg NAC and 3g of glycine daily (split with breakfast and before bed) at age 40. I know the older you are, the more effective but there are other benefits besides glutathione restoration. These doses are below what the studies state.

Popping in the joints is certainly not a bad thing. There is no study that even shows as much as correlation to joint damage. My teenage son can pop his joints and just sounds annoying.
From my personal experience whenever I roll, massage or do eccentrics on my I will get tight muscles/knots I will get a pop and it correlates with successful tension release, which tend correlates with less joint pain.

i am buying NOW NAC and glycine powder from iherb.

have been trying to up to 3g nac and 3-5g glycine daily.

i feel good :slight_smile: i do feel like my endurance has improved as i am a jogger.

this NACET from iherb is probably legit but i think i will wait for more brands to come out with it before trying it…meanwhile it is glynac for me…

No, it doesn’t. Only shows my town. But even if it did I doubt I’d care. Not hiding from anyone or anything LOL

What doses are the studies suggesting? I’m willing to increase my dose. I’m also doing 2400mg, I take 4x 600mg capsules every morning.

My asthma has dramatically improved since doing this.

For past few months… I have been doing 3 g of glycine with 5 g creatinine in an short coffee for my workout energy drink… and a 2 g NAC capsule with my bedtime supplements.

Seems fine.

Have you compared NAC in the morning vs night to see which gives you better sleep?

I take most supplements at night to work while I sleep…NAC, Lithium, B-12, D-3, K-2, zinc, magnesium,… etc.

In the morning coffee I take Creatine, Taurine and Collagen.

For workout Creatine and Glycine… in short coffee.

When I take my 6 mg of rapamycin/sirolimus it is also at bedtime.

Typically my sleep isnt disturbed… except on rapamycin night.

I have not been paying attention to my dosing and want to do get more serious about this

I see the doses are weight based, got it.

If you follow the studies, as Dessert Shores said earlier:
133mg/kg/day of NAC
100 mg/kg/day of Glycine
Or a newer study would be equal doses of each.

How are most of you taking it? Agetron, I see you are splitting them up. Do most here take them at the same time, or is at any point during the day fine. And because the dose is so high, is this something we ideally take twice per day?

I see Pure Encapsulations NAC has the highest mg in a single capsule that I can find from a reputable company. 900mg. Do comment if you know of a better optioin.

I aim for 80 mg/kg body weight of each. taken after lunch and before dinner. And I add some small amount of NAC (approx 1500 mg) in my morning collagen.

I use the NOW tablets 1 gm morning and night now. Glycine I take a few times a day with beverages, like Destrider said. Works well with citrulline and I throw it in with my BHB at noon. I’m sure I get more Glycine than I need.
