GLP-1 dosing for health benefits...not weight loss

Currently I take rapa (7mg once per week) and GH (1.33 Units/day). I am exploring GLP-1 for the non-weight losing benefits (Heart/Liver/Renal/Neurological). Is there a small dosing regimen that emphasises all the health benefits without targeting weight loss aspect so much?

That would mean sticking to the 2.5 mg dose forever. It’s what I’m doing — well maybe not forever but indefinitely. However tirzapetide is kicking my butt with higher RHR and lower HRV. I hope it stabilizes eventually because I don’t think I can take that long term. But losing fat too even on the mini dose so that’s nice.

There are no studies on such a dosage regimen. You’re free to try subclinical dosage to see if that works. For tirzepatide, it’s under 2.5mg per week, for retatrutide, it’s under 2mg. Really any dosage where you lose 5 pounds or less may work.

@Satchel That’s great to hear! Though sure sounds like an eternity. Were you using tirza or some other glp1? Also what steady state dose had you reached by 6 months and how long did it take you to get there, if I may ask? My understanding is that as long as the dose is shifting (usually up), everything is in flux. And it takes a while at the same dose before reaching an equilibrium where such metrics tend to normalize. Right now the feeling sucks and reminds me of what it felt to be 6+ months pregnant. Though of course my CGM readings look better than ever.

I would just take low dose semiglutide if you are looking for benefits but I think the longer we see these drugs get prescribed the more we will see increased side effects. So if you don’t need it for weight loss, I don’t suggest taking it and possibly having side effects for no reason. It can cause loss of muscle mass and personally I have noticed and I have taken all of them, my tooth and my hair being weaker. I do have a broken clavicle, so there is another factor and I take methadone so I am trying to see which is causing this issue. But I thought I spoiled mention this in case it is found out to cause brittle bones and hair,

Just wondering where and how one gets GH?
Thoughts appreciated.

What are the proven benefits of GLP1’s other than weight loss and diabetes control?

Prescribed by my Doctor.

I was on tirzep. Up to 7mg but now stay on 5mg/weekly for maintenance- for about 1.5yrs. I will drop it to 3-4mg/week now. I find the mood effects not great and will try to lower it as much as my weight management will allow.

I find it just makes me feel low energy. But ChatGPT says it’s an adjustment period and not a chronic issue.

I do 2-3mg retatrutide and I’m not looking to lose weight. I agree the increased heart rate is a problem. It doesn’t even appear to be dependent for me. It most definitely has not returned to baseline with prolonged use either.

Same with me. The increase in HR has not returned to baseline even at lower doses for Reta and/or Tirze. I’m starting to doubt the so-called “additional benefits” especially for normal healthy adults other than for weight loss and diabetes.

At 0.5 mg of retatrutide, I have seen a weight loss that fluctuates between five and ten pounds, with no side effects.

Reta is supposed to have a stronger shift towards sympathetic drive than tirza, dose for dose. I’m very sensitive that way, which is one reason I opted for tirza and not Reta.

Some of the health benefits outside of weight loss appear to come from much higher doses.

I am not so sure about this

This is from personal experience. Until I reached 10mg a week I didn’t get a significant effect on reducing asthma symptoms. In fact I wasn’t aware tirzepatide could do this until I raised the dose that high, and I only noticed this effect after I lowered the dose and I had asthma symptoms come back, and then go away after I raised the dose again.

I don’t think we have the answers, but I’ll ask for a gut feeling (pun intended).

I’m taking glp1s for the health benefits and my goal is to maintain my weight.

Does anyone think a higher dose every two weeks might have more health benefits than a lower dose once per week?

(Along the lines of 6mg of rapa every two weeks would be more beneficial than 1mg once per week).
