Really interesting. I also have had complete cessation of my my usual allergies during the spring/ pollen season once I started rapamycin.
I really started getting bad allergies (sneezing, runny nose, etc) in my mid-20s, and it continued for the next 30+ years until I started taking rapamycin, and then the issue went away entirely. When I’ve paused rapamycin for any length of time during the spring season, my allergies have come back.
I can vouch for the allergies being cured. Starting about age 50, I was getting allergies that I never had before in my youth… from Cedar in spring and Ragweed in the fall.
This is continue with needing a lot of flonase (was a prescription only when I first used it) used at the beginning of spring and in early fall…until a hard freeze.
Now, 3 years straight, using rapamycin have no allergies at all, so it has pretty much cleared that…taking me back to my pre-50’s resistance to allergies.
For example, I have hand arthritis that had worsened over the last year. My PCP examined my hands and understood the extent of the problem. I summarized the lit on rapamycin and arthritis. My PCP proposed an experiment. She gave me the low-dose prescription I requested and we set up an appointment (and blood labs) leaving about 14 weeks for the rapamycin to show an effect. We were both astonished at the next appointment—my arthritis pain was greatly reduced and my range of joint motion increased a lot. This is a real quality of life difference for me—there are no effective approved meds for osteoarthritis.
Here is an interesting piece of data. I started rapamycin 5 years ago 12/2019 and have been taking either 6 mg weekly or 10 mg every 10 days since. Traveled south for a 30 day vacation in Dec but forgot to bring my rapamycin - so for the first time in 5 years I went without it. Since BJohnson stated that rapamycin negatively effects health I figured I’d get my annual blood work done before I resumed.
One (2 but related) results popped out. Had 5 years of data with poor kidney function out of range results. During 5 years all results were in range and suddenly I am back to 5 years ago
I have been taking 6mg a week for about a year through ageless Rx. I have lost some weight, but no real noticeable benefits. There was a mix up one month in my rapa delivery, so i wound up taking a week off and had noticeable weight loss the following week once i started rapa again. i was wondering who is providing the rapa to you that recommended 12mg once per week?
Many of us here are just buying rapamycin from other locations (e.g. India: How to Get Rapamycin, Where to get a Prescription ) and testing different dosing levels. There is no really good data on what the optimal dosing level is for human longevity, so people test different doses and do blood tests to see if there are any negative effects of higher dosing. In many animal studies, higher doses result in greater longevity benefits (but there are risks, such as immune suppression, when you go to high regular dosing).
Just read an article from a newspaper indicating that Covid can lower intelligence scores by a few points. The sister of a friend had a rash all over after her first injection for Covid, then her legs swelled up after her second injection, but these things settled down after 24 to 48 hrs. After her third immunization, she had to be flown to a hospital in a major city for a heart transplant. This seems to be a complicated bug…
