Very interesting and love the screen-free/subscription free feature. Its not in sale yet though. Is it?
The Luna Band doesn’t seem to be better than the Amazfit Helio Band, so what’s the big deal? I doubt I would use Luna’s voice capabilities.
If not for the subscription price the Whoop strap generally outperforms all the other bands in information, presentation and additional features, such as their Advanced Labs and useful AI assistant. Whoop also lets a subscriber upload labs from other sources like LabCorp, Quest or Function Health. The Whoop strap can be re-charged without having to remove the band. That feature is not available on other fitness bands AFAIK.

Biobeat Technologies has raised $50 million in a series B round to help boost the commercialization of its blood pressure sensor.
The medtech, which touts itself as the developer of the first FDA-cleared, 24-hour patch-worn device for the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure, saw the financing round being led by new investors Ally Bridge Group, OrbiMed Advisors and Elevage Medical, while also including participation from an unnamed “strategic investor,” according to a release.
The cash will be used to help U.S. sales activities for the company’s cuffless blood pressure sensor device, which was recently cleared by the FDA.
Been looking for a US FDA-approved 24 hour BP measuring device for several months. I guess it will be a few months more before I can get my hands on one.
Just following up that I bought this and used it for a month. If anyone is interested in learning about the pros and cons, just message me and I’ll be happy to share more.
I’m also a current beta tester for a new player, no subscription needed which I know will be appealing to many.
How much to buy one?
I’ll ask them if they have a firm price established and will get back to you.
It seems to be very high quality, so I don’t foresee it being a bargain option.
It sounds good. Buttons on the machine so no app required and no subscription.
Please give us as much info as you can. Being warm prevents me sleeping comfortably.
@AustraliaLongevity
Ok, so here is everything I can think of at the moment. I’m still in the learning stage, but this exercise was helpful because it brought up more questions I have for them.
In addition to the buttons on the tower you that don’t need WiFi, and in addition to the ones on the app, you can also work it by tapping the buttons on the sides of the mattress! Those don’t need WiFi either!
The buttons on the side of the mattress cover are an extraordinary feature because I tinker with my temp most nights and going to the app is enough to wake me up, so just barely reaching and tapping the side of the bed is fantastic. They are on both sides of the bed. If you just used the tower, a second person in bed would have to walk around the bed to adjust the temp,
For anyone who cares (I DO!), the cover and the unit are both extremely attractive. The founder lives in Sweden and the design definitely has that Swedish vibe.
The cover is also OEKO-TEX certified which I believe is unique and very appreciated by me!
It’s very comfortable and it just feels like my bed. I left my Eight Sleep unzipped in order to keep it from making my mattress feel too firm.
My first night was pretty frustrating, but that was only due to being beta and not really knowing how to work it properly… for example, the founder was clever to make sure the buttons on the mattress were double tap so you didn’t accidentally change your temperature with a single tap, but because I didn’t know, I was hitting them like a raccoon on meth not understanding what was going on :)… and emailing them about it!! Now they realize they need to make it idiot proof… you are welcome!
The temp goes from 1 to 15, or conversely, -1 to -15 instead of the standard 10 steps so one can fine tune it more precisely
Also, there are two additional power settings.
The power setting is between 50-100%. You can adjust this yourself. They told me most people prefer it to be between 50-60%.
This is only about how fast the temp moves and not about what the final temperature can get to. If you want to change the temp faster, you can have it at 100%, but that comes with more noise. It’s not an unpleasant sound, but you do hear it. I don’t personally need it to do anything faster, so mine is set at 60%. At 60%, I believe it runs quieter than eightsleep but I have not done the decibel check… yet.
- The second power setting is a turbo mode. Turbo is 80% power, and if you hit it when you adjust your temp, it will go to 80% for 30 minutes and then default to where you had it. I think this is a great feature because you don’t have to mess with it again.
You can set it at the temp you want or you can have it automatically go to 3 different temps you select that changes throughout the night.
You can can set a thermal alarm
If you give it permission, it integrates with your other sleep data/trackers, but I’m not understanding the meaning of this yet, so I don’t use it. For example, before I turned it off, my first morning showed me my oura ring data. I think it will potentially do things with this data to help optimize your sleep, but I haven’t asked yet and can’t be sure…
I had a 1-2 hour zoom call with the founder, the main engineer, and their main contact. I’m also constantly emailing them as I think of questions or ideas, so don’t be shy about asking anything you might want to know.
What would really be helpful to him is knowing what you’d love to see in the product because it could just make a difference. He is very receptive and appreciates how I don’t sugar coat anything.
The founder is a young and very enthusiastic guy who has biohacker friends (on rapa!) and is genuinely interested in sleep and longevity. He ultimately wants to create more than just a product for good sleep.
I could probably get him on here to answer questions if you want to go deeper than I can, but I won’t ask him unless I am asked to, and of course rapadmin would have to approve it because I don’t know if commercial promotion is in bad form, even if for longevity? I get no compensation so I feel comfortable fact finding and reporting back.
I hope that helped!!
That is so good. I always turn WiFi off before going to sleep because I don’t have enough data to show if it interrupts sleep or not in any possible way.
This sounds like a really good product.
I had never heard of this but this sounds like a good standard.
Honestly for me the biggest things are:
- No subscription.
- As much functionality as possible without requiring WiFi or internet access.
- Good quality material that doesn’t off gas anything toxic.
I could see myself using this. Even the noise probably isn’t a problem if it is more of a white noise.
For clarity, when on 60% you can barely hear it. It’s not silent, but it’s the closet to silent in a cooling mattress I have experienced. I’m incredibly sensitive to noise and even white noise is offensive to me, so I don’t think it would be an issue for you at all.
I’m kinda famous for my nose and I don’t smell anything… not even right out of the box. Basically, I’m princess in the pea.
I don’t know how to post a sound recording, but just know if have the sounds recorded of Orion, eight sleep, and this one.
At some point I could turn off WiFi so I can figure out what the non WiFi functions are.
I’m not surprised there’s competition to Eightsleep now that might arguably be better in certain ways, considering the tech is basically a PC liquid cooler and fish tank heat pump attached to a mattress. Eight sleep even used effective off the shelf Noctua fans that gamers use. I read somewhere a guy who built his own DIY solution. 60% fan is about the optimal for noise-to-effectiveness for Noctua fans as well, IIRC.
Nah, it’s just for stable revenue. Companies love subscriptions.
I closed that piece of useless website when it forces you to a survey somehow at your first visit, then asks for your email for a subscription for 10% off when you close that. What the f*ck. Morons. The survey appears just made up to farm engagement.
So they A/B tested to some crap and treat their visitors like cattle.
Yep, and while ES has a good product that was life-changing for me, they are abusive to their customers. It’s why I’m willing to put my time and effort into helping a startup for no compensation… hell hath no furry and all…
I read when AWS was down people’s beds started heating and getting into weird positions.
It fortunately didn’t happen to me, but yeah, that really did happen to tons of people!!!
That is hilarious
