Chinese companies are developing drugs faster and cheaper than anyone else, including the U.S. And while the early focus has been on copycat drugs and incremental improvements, it’s possible that something more profound might emerge from that ecosystem: a new productive way of developing drugs.
And it cannot happen soon enough. I am extremely frustrated by the glacial pace of not only drug development but better and faster implementation of clinical practice. It takes literally decades for new treatment modalities to penetrate to the local doctor. It’s a scandal that we’ve known for literally decades that for example ApoB is a superior lipid risk biomarker than LDL-C and yet standard lipid panels have not changed for decades. How can we implement better public health policies when everything is moving at a snail’s pace? It’s a scandal. We need competition. Just as Japanese cars brought quality to the auto industry in the West, so too biotech in China hopefully can spur everyone to pull up their pants and start delivering.
One more article on that topic: China’s Other Olympics
At the Olympics of synthetic biology, 50 percent of the teams are Chinese — and counting. What does that mean for the future of the biotech industry?
The thing is the Chinese has the mentality of playing a 100-yr long game as corp here are mostly short term driven.
Do Chinese have any equivalent of Wormbot or NIA ITP?
Not that I have heard of. But i haven’t studied it in depth. Perhaps review this White Paper on China’s Longevity Medicine and Anti-Aging Industry (Chinese Version) 中国长寿医学与抗衰产业白皮书
SARs leaked from a beijing lab as well
i am wondering seriously if these chinese will finally succeed in killing the world next outbreak they leak…
its just crazy.
Fear not, chances are they will also be the ones producing the cure, since they’re a manufacturing powerhouse.
the level of science in china is very low, especially medical science
during covid their vaccines were crap compared to pfizer and moderna
I wouldn’t generalize, and I think your views probably missing out on the true state of things in China. They produce most of the active pharmaceutical ingredients that all drug companies use… and they are now coming out with many more drugs, faster, than the USA. They are growing rapidly. There are more and more partnerships with Chinese firms, and licensing from Chinese biotech. Their development cycles are much faster than ours.
Their R&D is very strong now, especially in certain target areas.
See these articles:
Its the usual commie propaganda that hasnt changed even as mao was starving 50m to death they were saying they were overtaking the usa…hah.
Covid was only 4y ago and u can see their response was totally unscientific spraying disinfdctant on streets, locking people in apts, producing shoddy vaccines, etc.
A lot of the science they produce are also fake or fudged, this is well known, that compared to say the usa or singapore, in china many papers are deliberately fudged.
Many of the public hospitals are dispensing fake vaccines also.
The above is just my opinion and some facts.
Its true that if one is a rogue scientist or crazy guy who wants to edit genes then china is definitely a ton easier to play around freely than the usa or any developed nation though
Lol cope harder.

Yes, it’s obvious to anyone in the field that China is very quickly rising in pharma. It doesn’t erase past massive failures nor does it mean that all Chinese research is good (there’s a lot of crap produced by Tier 3 institutions), but the Tier 1 Chinese labs are seriously challenging Western companies. And that’s good for all of us.
There are no real tier 1 research labs in china haha…maybe u can argue for a handful
In japan korea sg aus usa can europe we are talking hundreds if not thousands
How u gonna get tier 1 labs when:
U cannot get tier 1 researchers
Ur chemicals are wonky…supplier gives u fakes…middleman switches them for fakes for profits…staff inhouse doing the same…acctant stealing ur money…labs stealing yr research
Patent protection is non existent…u can walk down the cbd of the biggest cities and see fake nikes addidas prada
Even getting drinking water is hard…50% of bottled water in beijing is fake…
Even macdonalds failed to secure its food chain in china…their supplier shanghai husi was using rotten meat and faking the records etc
Sorry for the reality…thats how we got covid leaking from a wuhan lab…
Do you realized that the best doctors killed the most patients… LOL … if you want a greenhorn… that is fine. Have you actually been to China?
Markets disagree: Did COVID-19 come from a laboratory? | Manifold
For the rest, there are maybe better forums and social media more suitable for you than this one. You should have a look!
Not on my list, too polluted and unsafe.
HK yes, but they dont really want to be same family as the commies anyway.
Science in the usa is about 100,000,000 times better than china for sure
