Red Light Therapy as an adjunct to Rapamycin

Less studied, but the 1060 wavelength will penetrate deeper into the brain than the 600 and 800 wavelengths.

Great to know it’s not a gimmick, thx! It turns out the Rouge brand has the most 1060, but it is less powerful than the biomax. The biomax, with their 20% restocking fee is probably out for no other reason.

The Mito, with the best return policy, does not have 1060, so it seems if I’m going in, I might as well have the opportunity for the most brain benefits.

For anyone interested, another brand with 1060 is Block Blue and they have more power than the Rouge but less 1060 (grain of salt on anything I’m reporting… I know only enough to be dangerous!)

I’m sharing this incase it winds up helping someone else… I just talked to Rouge, and they said if you use Pirate ship (which I do use), I could probably return a 36x12 panel for around $60 … significantly less than I had assumed (my espresso maker was 300 to send back for service, so I was needless nervous about this).
Also, they are having their Black Friday sale now, incase anyone is in the market.

I second this. Even though some panels have the 1064 wavelength, I wouldn’t be takiing that as a clear positive since you won’t get muc benefits for the brain anyways if you’re using the panel normally . To get a good dose for the brain you need longer exposure times

Just here to share what I’m learning from people in the RLT facebook group.

Many people report great benefits, but it also seems to be a common occurrence that, for some, NIR is too much for the face and many get pigmentation.

If that does happen, you can turn off NIR and just use RL on your face, but then you are not getting any potential brain/hair benefits of NIR… I guess if you lay face down that works. So it seems this is not a one size fits all type of product.

FWIW: I am fair-skinned from Scandinavian descent, and I have been using red light therapy for several years now. I doubt many people have had as much exposure time as me. I do at least four hours a week. My skin has improved under red light therapy, and I have noticed no increased pigmentation. Also, as per @Olafurpall, I wouldn’t worry about getting the most powerful panels, especially if you use RLT the way that I do, lying prone on a beach towel-covered yoga mat. I would not want the most powerful panels because I like lying under the lights for at least 30 minutes. I do at least 30 minutes, sometimes more, after I come home from the gym. I do the yoga asana known as “dead man’s pose,” called Savasana, and either listen to music or meditate.

That is reassuring. I forget, do you also have NIR or just red light… I assume both? Apparently it’s the NIR that can be the problem

I pulled the trigger and placed an order for a rouge g4 with a great early Black Friday deal. I chose that one for multiple reasons, including cost, and they have more 1060 than anyone… just incase there is some brain benefit … fingers crossed!!

I’m hoping to find it as relaxing as you do… and I’ll be sure to share if it helps my cat!

Hi, OP here. I have had the Rogue for about 3 years now and it has been a great machine. Glad to see so much excitement about RLT.

Thanks for posting your setup back in 2023!!

Now that you’ve used it for years, do you have any additional feedback on how you use it or what benefits you have received?

Here is a review of the unit I ended up choosing:

Block Blue Light Ultimate XXL

My primary reason for choosing a full size panel was saving time (versus adjusting a smaller panel to cover smaller parts of your body individually)

Alex said that’s the one he is personally using now!

I’m jealous of your ginormous panel.

Care to share what your experience is?

My setup uses 660 nm and 850 nm LEDs with a total power of approximately 544 watts, full body, suspended horizontally above my yoga mat.

I’d be happy to but wont be able to use it for a few more days. Waiting on my electrician to install a new 20A outlet in the room where I have placed it.

Packaging quality was good and assembly of the motorized stand was fairly easy to do myself (despite the parts missing labels to coincide with the instructions). Due to the size of the panel I would recommend 3 people for easy completing of the final step (one person holding each end of the panel and a third person bolting the panel to the motorized stand. Maybe 2 people could perform this task if one person had long arms to bolt the panel to the stand while holding it.

Im also trying to decide what to lay on while using it (under the motorized stand). My standard weight lifting bench was my first thought (since I will mostly use it after exercise) but the length might be a little short for comfort.

Update: So far I love the panel. Im using it after weight lifting 3x a week (10 minutes on front and 10 minutes on back) and subjectively feel like I am recovering faster between workouts.

Only sad news is that the current Black Friday sale (25% off) offers a greater discount than the discount code I used last month.

Oh, you JUST got it… how exciting!

I noticed they don’t sell a motorized stand, which sounds like the dream. Whose did you buy that you knew would fit… did you find a lower priced option by chance?

My Rogue has an equal number of red light and IR diodes and I have both turned up to 100%. I have the timer set at 16 minutes and the machine beeps when 8 minutes have elapsed; I then flip sides. While on my stomach I have my head turned left half the time and then turn right the rest of the time to make sure my skull is proportionally irradiated. This is my routine 5 days a week. The 36 inch panel allows for efficient coverage since it covers an area from the top of your head to the bottom of your torso. As far as tangible benefits, my dermatologist (who is also a fan) has noted improved skin tone. I have observed enhanced wound healing and joint function. I sense that mitochondrial function has also been enhanced because of the boundless energy I am enjoying at age 65. Hope this helps!

I had the same concern (I think Alex mentioned it in the video). Fortunately they listened to his feedback and now do offer a motorized stand. Highly recommended especially if you have another user with difference preferences or plan to frequently adjust the height for any reason.

That was a good catch!

… and probaby a poor decision on their part because it does not come up if you search for their stands.

Enjoy your envy inducing setup!!

That sounds great. Most people however probably use the panels in the upright position and in that case, they would want the session to be short. Note that laying down, while comfortable, requires some kind of a stand and that costs extra and it takes up more space in the home, so that’s not as common as using panels upright.

I have used the panel upright while I sit in front of it on a stool and read. It’s super pleasant and I always put in at least 20-30 minutes if I could spare the time. It’s also possible to lay the panel on one of its sides while lying down in front of it. Plenty of creative ways to use it lying down without a stand. Always thought I’d want to use it in bed with a stand but once I did get the stand and tried it that way actually ended up finding the setup too restrictive.

Exactly @Olafurpall, if I had to stand to use it, I would need to it to take no longer than 60 seconds with my ADD :). And yes, the stands are cost prohibitive

I ordered a horizontal stand, and I THINK I’m going to stick it in a corner with a massage table and have it ready to go… (I had visions of rolling it away to store each day but then reality hit me). I’ll close my eyes and listen to a podcast… I’ll set an alarm so I don’t fall asleep and incinerate

What are your thoughts on eye protection while using this? I’ve seen anecdotal data suggesting there are benefits to the retina having the red light penetrate your eyelids, but I’ve also seen warnings.
