āA randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, multicenter clinical trial to assess the efficacy and safety of Emblica officinalis extract in patients with dyslipidemia,ā
Amla extract 500mg was administered
These doses from the Joel Kahn article{pages 37 to 40] also included aspirin.
Aspirin - 100mg a day
pine bark extract{French Maritime Pine Bark Extract was used] - 150mg a day
gotu kola - 450mg a day
My LDL has gone down from almost 70 to 30 since taking Rapa. Full disclosure, Iām also taking all kinds of other stuff (Gotu Kola, Pine Bark extract, vitamin D/ K2, etc).
My fasting glucose is also fine (70ās range). A1C is 4.9.
Iāve been on Rapa for about a year. Started at 3mg/ week titrating up over time to current (last four months) of 6mg with grapefruit juice every two weeks (approx equivalent of 20 mg).
Well I feel great but I have a pretty significant plaque burden (590 CAC score) so I am obsessed with any protocol that can slow down that progression. Now all my lipids look great.
So @Pestodude you donāt currently (and havenāt in the past?) taken any statins or PCSK9 inhibitors to get your cholesterol / APO-B down?
Youāve gotten it down to that level just with the supplements you mentioned?
Also - I have a more general question (for everyone on this topic) - when you do your fasting blood test and check your cholesterol and APO-B levels - Iām assuming that the last day you took any supplements or statins/PCSK9 inhibitors, etc. are the day before the blood test - so its been 12+ hours since any of the supplements or medicines have been taken - is that right?
Does anyone stop taking the supplements or medications longer than one day prior to the blood test for any reason (e.g. get a better read on what your current lipid levels would be without any add-ons that may be lowering it, etc.?)
Sorry, yes I have taken 10mg Crestor for several years. No PSK9 inhibitors. Also changed my diet, very low carb, eliminated sugar, one meal a day (most days).
Always do my labs prior to taking meds.
Not keto. Closer to a āMediterranean dietā. Probably eat more protein than is considered best for longevity but Iām almost 65 and want to stave off sarcopenia. I lift 6 days a week and do zone 2 cardio 4-5 days a week and zone 5 cardio once or twice a week.
Do you have any idea how much each group of medicines / supplements lowered your cholesterol?
Iām just curious - if you were at 200mg/dl before you started, and are at 30 now - was most of that (e.g. 70% from Crestor and the rest the supplements)? Just curious how effective the supplements have been compared to Crestorā¦
Just in terms of side effects, after one week of Amla extract at 500 twice a day, no side effects whatsoever. This is in comparison to the several times that Iāve experimented with statins wherein I would have fatigue and muscle aches after one week. Iām assuming that this is related to CoQ 10.
