How to Reverse Skin Aging

Amen to that. I too am cognitively challenged. But its a worthy endeavor.

Anyone that holds to the idea that women cannot do science need to come to this thread and be completely amazed.

Iā€™ve seen that they are starting to be marketed, the 1st I found with a quick search: bombastic marketing and high price, but at least they do specify the bacterium species. The advertising hype is formidable. I could barely hold my self from clicking the ā€˜buyā€™ button.

How does it work ?

Inspired by cutting-edge research in skin science and patented tribiotic complex, our serum introduces the power of youth probioticsā€”essential element given by mothers at birth, which diminishes with ageā€”reintroducing their benefits to rejuvenate the skin. It is also packed with lifting marine prebiotic and postbiotic lactic acid which are effective cell renewal, lifting and plumping ingredients that acts on loss of firmness and bring a radiant look.

A brand called Mother Dirt was all the rage a few years ago. Many people swore it transformed their problem skin. I never see anything about it anymore?

Theyā€™ve rebranded looks like https://aobiomecosmetics.com/

I have a lot of Tretinoin 0.1% and was wondering if I could use it on my forearms and hands. They have taken quite a bit of sun damage over time.

Any tips on usage by anyone who has done this?

Iā€™ve used tret on my shoulders and chest a handful of times, and I definitely notice that my shoulders look better.

Yes, as long as itā€™s skin. However 0.1% might be a bit too potent for starting.

Just remember tret makes your skin more sun sensitive, so you need to use spf on those areas or they may become worse than when you started.

@Dr.Bart my derm advised me against using any strength Iā€™d use on my body due to the large area because she worries about toxicity. Because of that, Iā€™ll use lotions designed for the body that have barely anything in it. Thoughts?

Seems like an extremely low risk from what I can find:

A 31-year-old man ingested 1000 mg of tretinoin (100 pills of Vesanoid 10 mg) in a suicide attempt. He developed nonbloody diarrhea, but otherwise had no complaints. Clinical examination was normal. The patient was treated with activated charcoal and was hydrated. The patientā€™s blood results did not show any deterioration on the third consecutive day. He was discharged well on the third day, but was subsequently lost to follow-up.

Listen to your doc, esp. derm.

Yes, personally I would not use my Musely tretinoin 0.1% directly all over my body. I usually use a pea size amount in to body cream 1:10-20 ratio and use it 2-3/ weeks.

No, but Iā€™ve seen Dr. Dray videos where she gives the ok for tretinoin use on hands. Canā€™t remember which one it was.

But in the pics, all the models are young and gorgeous.

Thatā€™s a serious point.
We can presume that those products advertised by young and gorgeous models will hopefully prevent skin aging to an extent, the only purpose useful to nearly perfect skin. Manteinance.
What about older and uglier real people, with various degrees of damage already existing? Some prevention for the remaining span of time on earth keeps being useful, but again what about the theoretical remediation of flaws like black spots, small wrinkles, and other imperfections?

Honestly the most effective but not without risks are lasers that basically remove the top layer of skin and target dark spots and blood vessels. There are different kinds. They are expensive. And even those are not going to be a complete miracle reset from the before and afters I have seen.

I went to do a consultation for issues with Rosacea and mild sun damage and it was going to be a few thousand dollars for 3 treatments with ā€œFotona Starwalkerā€. Iā€™m still considering it, but itā€™ll be a while for me to pull the trigger on something like this. Iā€™m trying to see what results I can get to with red light therapy in a year and then reassess.

Near IR light therapy sounds promising, have you selected the specific device?

What do you mean by black spots? Did you mean dark spots like from sun damage?

Yes, dark spots, sorry for the inaccuracy, it will take some time to become accurate with the terminology.
I have a number of such dark spots, since I live in a coastal place where itā€™s tradition in the summer to go to the beach. Actually, people who were not tanned in the summer were considered sick and colored skin is still considered a beautiful skin, more than a pale or whitish one. This is the power of culture and tradition, we were encouraged to expose to the sun.
Iā€™ve been going to the beach from age 2, probably my skin should be far worse if we consider the cumulative exposure. True enough, after 30 I started becoming intolerant to UV rays so I had to decrease the exposure, which due to reflection phenomena from the sand and the water surface is pretty huge from May to September, even though in middle latitudes (about 42Ā°N).

BBL works fabulously for dark spots from the sun!

Itā€™s light and not an actual laser. No down time. I had a chest covered in freckles from being a sun worshiper when living in Fl, and after a few sessions, they were all gone.

I had my first laser last year, and aside from looking great due to the swelling, I donā€™t think it did much of anything for my skin. Perhaps there were some subtle changes that I didnā€™t notice? The skin on my face was pretty good to start with, so if there was more damage, maybe I would have seen a difference? For me, it was a huge waste of money, but I know some people swear by them.

Iā€™m using Novaa Glow Therapy Mask ā€“ NovaaLab. Though I bought it before I found all the wealth of information on this forum. I donā€™t think it has high enough irradiance power potentially. But since I already have it, I will continue using it. Given the low irradiance output, Iā€™m using it pretty much daily for 20 mins and itā€™s not a burden, since I just sit back relax and either meditate or listen to my audiobooks.

I have also purchased a whole body panel from Alibaba. Going back a ways and noticed your interest in a DIY cream.

There are 6 ā€œversionsā€ of hyaluronic acid, all related to the size/mass of the HA molecule and in some cases, the source. In itā€™s natural form its a very large molecule, a ā€œsugarā€ in fact and too large to penetrate the skin. This molecular weight is measured in Daltons.

HA, as produced in your body, is 6 to 8 million Daltons (6000k to 8000k) depending on where it is located in the body.

Most skin care products use MMW (medium molecular weight) of 1000K to 1500K Dalton, some use a LMW (low molecular weight) HA around 60k to 800k

I use ULMW (ultra low molecular weight) less than 6k Daltons. (2800 to 4300 D) Also the most expensive version by a factor of 10x.

The smaller the size, the better the penetration, with a BUTā€¦ it can cause inflammation for some. The trick then becomes combining that with other compounds that reduce inflammation. Which is why I picked Argan oil.

The reason I went back a ways is that Iā€™ve just added another peptide to my little formula, Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 at 1.0% concentration.

Tripeptide-5 is a highly bioactive, deeply skin penetrating peptide (palmitoyl tripeptide-5). Has been found in-vitro studies to activate tissue growth factor (TGF-beta). TGF-beta is known to stimulate collagen synthesis in the skin.

So now we have;
GHK-cu - 1.5%
HA (ULMW) - 1.5%
Tripeptide-5 - 1.0%
Argan Oil - 10%

Just made that batch on the weekend. Supposedly visible results in 80 days
