I dont recall ever hearing of anxiety being a side effect.
From a cursory search of the forum, I dont find it mentioned. Side Effects of Rapamycin (part 2)
Personally, I get anxiety if I miss a dose.
I’d not see a logical mechanism of this being causative. I guess if you have mTORC1 inhibition, your body is likely going to clean up things, and be believing it is calorie deficient.
Who knows if some things getting cleaned up, or sensing hard times could cause some psychological impacts? Anyway, to my knowledge, it isn’t known to be a side effect.
Thank you for the responses. I am taking it for symptoms of long covid. And already have extreme fatigue. I noticed that some people also get fatigue from it. Is that fatigue only on day of dose for those of you that experience it please? The anxiety symptom is new and just started but I also started MCOT-s peptides with Rapamycin. So will back off that. Is anyone else using Rapamycin for Long Covid here? Thanks
On my first few doses I had what might be described as anxiety. It was nervousness or apprehension of the unknown. After my first couple doses, I began to be anxious if I couldn’t get my monthly dose on-time, due to travel or domestic responsibilities.
We have had other people post about having long covid:
Here: High C Reactive protein from Long Covid
Also, a thread here: Rapamycin as a possible treatment for Long Covid
@Dr.Bart called this anxiety about taking and experimental drug. It’s not surprising and perhaps explains it?
I was excited to get on it. The anxiety didn’t start until week three after increasing from 2mg twice a week to 3mg twice a week. I backed it down. It’s better. But I know notice I have much more fatigue since starting it. I also have very bad long covid going on 4 years. It’s better but my whole reason for starting Rapamycin was the fatigue and PEM and now I feel worse. Any one else experience this? Please
I was just responding to another person with a different side effect using rapamycin (blurred vision) when I noticed the reference here (see below) about anxiety being a side effect also…
Thank you. I am taking a few weeks off and have been off it for a week now and anxiousness is gone so is the fatgue . I also think diviiding the dose into two different times is not a good idea because rapamycin has such a long half life. So I am going to try once a week dosing next time.
Does anyone take any seneltyic activators to help remove the old senescence cells on days off? I did take the Life Extension brand a few days after my last dose and it did seem to clear my symptoms also. Thank you for response. this group is very helpful.
Yes. I had anxiety for a couple of months. Don’t know if it is related to rapamycin or the persistent laryngeal infection and nasal blockage I had during this period I had to take alprazolam on most nights during this period. But now it is gone although I am still on rapamycin
there is a mouse study with rapamycin where the mice seemingly showed anxiety-like symptoms.
here it is:
Its strange, there is also evidence to the contrary:
This morning I played a two hour paddle tennis mini tournament. And I do it every thursday, which is the day I have scheduled my 6 mg. rapamune dose at 7:45 AM. And I mix paddle tennis and rapa this way because I feel doped, both mentally and physically, the whole day I get my mTOR inhibiTOR, taking very good advantage of it at the court. Nothing could be further from the feeling of anxiety. Rapamycin is well know for acting, as many other compounds, differently in everyone of us, as, for sample, a close friend of mine gets hurtful mouth sores just by looking at a rapamune box.
