In terms of “optimal distance”. I think the real answer is to have radiation levels akin to those from the sun. Too much can be a problem and too little would not have much of an effect.
I am using Red and Near Infra red as there seems to be some merit to near infra red as well (all the cytochrome c oxidase exciting the copper atom stuff).
I purchased the red light bulb from Amazon listed above. I thought I would try it out in a lamp first on my scalp. I don’t want to fry my hair though. Any optimal distance recommendations?
I have have had grey hair 65-70% or my head and I too have new hair that’s black. Small follicles not many . And frankly, I didn’t want my gray hair to turn black because I’ve been coloring it for years and have it down to a science. So I thought I was going crazy when I started seeing all the follicles coming in so dark and I’ve read about 10 medical papers on it with all the technical terms and it appears that not everyone has that side effect. And they’ve used topical rapamycin to gain hair follicle growth, but I’m not doing that at all. I’m taking 6 mg eight weeks on five weeks off every Friday.
And I Just finished my third round.
The black hair you see could also be your normal black hair just growing after it had just shed. I have NOT experienced any less graying on RAPA. However, I do feel adding copper, zinc and perhaps the DAV protocol have reduced my gray hair by about 10-15%. To be fair in addition to above that I mentioned I also added Enclomiphene citrate, and metformin and I’m not sure if these two helped or not. But to recap I can easily see a reduction on grey hair in last month or so and during this period I’ve added the following:
Zinc, copper, DAV protocol, fresh garlic and fresh ginger daily, metformin and Enclomiphene Citrate. Don’t know exac which has helped most but I am certain that I have at least 10-20% less grey hair. Even my beard used to be 70-80% grey and now is more like salt and pepper look50/50 or worst 55/45. I still do Rapa and many other supplements but I know it has no effect since I’ve been doing for long time and never sow any effect.
I have given up looking for hair darkening. I kept believing I saw it happening at the roots but the “darker” hair never really showed up. Maybe if I stop watching, the kettle will boil.
I keep my hair under review because it is a reasonably rapid reponse to changes in protocol. I find it rare that the colour of a strong white hair becomes pigmented, but vellus hairs which are weak white hairs do become pigmented. I use a usb macro camera which costs about gbp100.
I think Rapamycin alone is not enough.
As far as I can understand it activates autophagy throughout the body, but the body usually does not seem to prioritize repair/healing of hair because it is not essential for survival. Especially when you have chronic pain or inflammation, the body will probably focus all of its repair on essential organs and tissue.
Also keep in mind that overall health of the body matters. I think when a person’s skin and body has taken signifcant damage from the environment and aging in general, it is almost as if aging accelerates because the dysfunction of the cells cannot be repaired fast enough before new cells go dysfunctional. The probability that the body will repair the hair is extremely low the older you are and in worse shape you are.
I think the highest potential for regrowth/repigmentation is treatments that cause some kind of local hormesis. Microneedling of the scalp and applying of certain substances like Minoxidil show the most powerful changes in hair.
If you want to repigment your hair, I think you must do something to your scalp that triggers the body to repair the hair follicles. I wonder if deep needling penetration in combination with senolytics could work to make this happen but I have no idea.
My main concern with super high doses of omega 3 are heart problems which seem to happen. I was doing pretty high dose for a while but just do 1 fish oil concentrate morning and one at night now.
What I find interesting from time to time is that individual hairs will change colour part way down the hair shaft. I am mainly seeing a small number of facial hairs turning from white to pigmented. Its a small number, however.
I’ve just ordered a red light therapy cap. Been using a panel for a little while and enjoyed it so I’ve ordered cap and mask. I think that will improve circulation in the area. I use a scalp massager a few times a week.
I’ve tried many things over the years and I’ve always felt if I ever do anything that reverses gray hair I’ve discovered something that is profoundly rejuvenating unless it’s a very specific topical formula made only to reverse gray hair.
There was the case where they were testing a new anti-lung cancer drug there were consistent numbers of patients getting gray hair reversal. Given the information I’ve learned as of late of senescent cells I wonder if this was some kind of senolytic effect?
The drugs used were Nivolumab, Atezolizumab and Pembrolizumab. I would love to see these used in the Ora Biomedical C. Elegans studies.
