Generally Good Indian Pharma Companies

LIST
[Pivasta]

[pravastatin]

Option 1: Pravator by Cipla Ltd. Available Dosages (Live Search): 10mg, 20mg, 40mg tablets. Note: Current live inventory on major aggregators like Tata 1mg and Apollo Pharmacy primarily lists the 10mg and 20mg variants as actively stocked, though 40mg is part of the approved product line.

Quality Rationale: Cipla is one of the world’s largest generic manufacturers with a massive regulatory footprint, including over 150 ANDA approvals in the U.S. and widespread EMA compliance. They maintain a high degree of vertical integration, particularly in cardiovascular therapeutic areas, allowing for stringent control over Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) purity. Their scale provides significant capital for advanced analytical testing and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) infrastructure.

Compliance Note: In early 2026, Cipla initiated a Class II recall for Lanreotide injections due to particulate matter—a serious issue but specific to complex injectables rather than oral solids. While Cipla has faced Form 483 observations at its Pithampur and Goa facilities in the last 5 years, they have demonstrated a consistent ability to remediate and maintain their overall status as a primary global supplier with relatively few systemic failures in oral tablet production.

Option 2: Prastatin by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Available Dosages (Live Search): 10mg, 20mg tablets.Note: While 40mg and 80mg SKUs are manufactured by Sun Pharma for export markets (U.S./EU), the domestic Indian market availability via digital pharmacies such as Netmeds frequently centers on the 10mg and 20mg “Prastatin” brand.

Quality Rationale: Sun Pharma is India’s largest pharmaceutical company and the fourth largest specialty generic company globally. They possess a vast regulatory footprint with hundreds of FDA approvals and a highly integrated supply chain where they produce a significant portion of their own APIs. This vertical integration is critical for statins to prevent oxidative degradation and ensure bioequivalence to the reference listed drug (Pravachol).

Compliance Note: Sun Pharma has been under intense FDA scrutiny, notably receiving a Warning Letter for its Halol facility (2022/2023) and more recently a Class III recall in late 2025 for topical solutions due to impurity specifications. However, their oral solid dosage forms (tablets) have remained more stable in terms of safety profile compared to their sterile/injectable lines, and their immense capitalization allows for rapid response to regulatory corrections.

I thought max does was 4mg? oh…my bad I had a big typo. I meant Pitavastatin! not pravastatin!

[Pitavastatin] - Best Purchase Options from Indian Pharma

Option 1: Pivasta by Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Zydus Cadila) Available Dosages (Live Search): 1mg, 2mg, 4mg Tablets. Verification: Real-time search on Tata 1mg and Netmeds confirms that Pivasta is actively marketed in the standard therapeutic strengths of 1mg, 2mg, and 4mg. The 2mg and 4mg variants are the most widely stocked SKUs.

Quality Rationale: Zydus is the originator for the magnesium salt form (Zypitamag) in the US market, demonstrating a high level of technical competence and regulatory investment in this specific molecule. They hold a massive ANDA portfolio and are one of India’s top-tier manufacturers by revenue and quality infrastructure. Their vertical integration for statins is robust, often producing the necessary intermediates and APIs to ensure consistent bioequivalence to the reference listed drug.

Compliance Note: Zydus has faced FDA scrutiny, including a 2024 inspection at their Ahmedabad injectable facility which resulted in a Form 483 with multiple observations related to environmental monitoring. However, their oral solid dosage facilities (where Pivasta is produced) have generally maintained a more stable compliance profile over the last five years compared to their sterile/injectable units. No systemic data integrity violations have been linked to their pitavastatin production line in recent public records.

Option 2: Zypitav by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Available Dosages (Live Search): 1mg, 2mg, 4mg Tablets.Verification: Verified via Netmeds and PharmEasy; Zypitav is consistently available in 1mg, 2mg, and 4mg strengths, which are the standard dose options for pitavastatin in the Indian domestic market.

Quality Rationale: Sun Pharma is India’s largest pharmaceutical company and the fourth-largest specialty generic company globally. Their “Quality First” initiative, backed by immense capitalization, allows for state-of-the-art analytical testing. They are highly vertically integrated, manufacturing their own Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for the majority of their cardiovascular portfolio, which mitigates supply chain risks and ensures purity.

Compliance Note: Sun Pharma’s Halol and Dadra facilities have received multiple Form 483 observations and a Warning Letter (Halol) in recent years regarding quality oversight and aseptic practices. However, these issues were primarily focused on their injectable and ophthalmic lines. Their oral solid manufacturing has largely remained operational for global export, though the company remains under heightened regulatory monitoring.

No and I recently twice sent funds. 2 weeks ago and about a month and a half ago. I don’t know why your bank would be blamed by Wise? the way my account works is I transfer money from my bank to wise. then once the funds have been deposited into my wise account I then send the funds to my vendor in india. Could it be because you “told” them what the funds were for? My vendor says to put “Goods” only if wise asks and that’s what i do.

I just came across this article: excerpt follows.

DALLAS – Feb. 04, 2026 – An experimental pill called enlicitide slashed levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, commonly known as “bad” cholesterol, by up to 60%, a new phase three clinical trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine showed. If approved by the Food and Drug Administration, this novel medication could help millions in the U.S. significantly reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes.

When I go to Sun Pharmas website I dont actually see where to buy any sirolimus. What am I missing?

Do you go to Pfizer to buy your Pfizer-made medications?

You have to go to the pharmacies… See this list: Buy Rapamycin Online - List of Reliable Pharmacies

Ive read that post, gone through the list but I must not be understanding because when you go to company websites like Pfizer or Sun Pharma they dont actually sale the drugs on their website. R L Pharma w/ Jagdish though only has the 1mg dosing of the other more reliable brands. Im gonna keep looking for at least 5mg doses of these elsewhere

Oh, I wouldn’t worry about trying to find 5mg tablets. the 1 mg tablets are tiny and easily swallowed. In fact I swallowed 20 of them in one small gulp yesterday. It seems most manufacturers have standardized on 1mg, which is fine. Most people are taking 5mg to 10mg total. There is no real benefit to larger capacity tablets.

Seriously 20? How often you are doing that. weekly? and did you help it with EVOO, because I doubt you’d use GFJ with such a high dose.

I’m on a spread-out timing cycle now, still deciding but probably 2 to 3 weeks. Yes - with EVOO. No GFJ.

contact Jagdish and ask if he has what you’re looking for. I never use the RL website.

Has anyone had a good experience buying Bempedoic Acid/Ezetimibe from an Indian Pharmacy? If so, I would like to know.

Yes, many of us have. Choose a major brand (indian) and you will be fine, in my experience.

At one point I was convinced my Indian brand was bunk, but now I’m pretty sure I was mistaken and that it was my crappy high sugar high saturated fat diet at the time. I’m on branded Nexlizet now and it’s no different than the Indian generic I used to take.

Thank you for this post, @Davin8r, because your previous posts knocking the India sourced BA and EZ combo pills had me a bit worried. I know you are pretty careful in general, so I was seriously considering switching to a US prescription, at least on a trial basis. Thank you for saving me the effort!

The last time I purchased Rapamycin from India, my payment was for several T shirts. This was a PayPal transaction rather than Wise. The vendors seem to know how to work the system

FYI, Maulik told me shipping to the US is suspended right now.

Also, @garym37 I’ve placed multiple orders of BA/EZ and they all went well.

@Davin8r BA (and EZ) does not to anything very drastic for me, so I can see why you might have thought so.

Thanks, Beth. For BA/EZ which pharmacy provided a good experience?
