BTW… sounds unbelievable, but 2-3 capsules (1,500 mg) of Sunflower Lecithin will give you powerful loads… even with normal aging causing less volume… watery ejaculations.
3000-5000 grafts can be enough if you stop at NW3-4 and never bald any further. Many men do go full-blown NW6-7 at which point you need 10-12k grafts from a magician of a surgeon. And as you said, density will never rival natural hair.
Research also indicates that it normalizes over time or with a lower dose or with topical fin.
The medication not being suited for you != the medication being bad altogether.
of course that is a no brainer. Many meds have varied degrees of side effects in different people. Clearly there is people that take Fin for life with no noticeable negative effects, but for me and others that experience such effects it is simply not a good choice. And, it is not just me since I’ve read few similar experiences from people in various forums. so i doubt it is a one in a million case, in which case it should be ignored.
Side effects above placebo are anywhere from 1-3%. Side effects with placebo are up to 10% of people. People complaining about side effects will be very vocal about it while people who are pleased with it usually won’t comment. Add to that the number of fin haters (many bald guys, men who want to reduce competition, people who don’t like medication/pharma in general, bots, shills, grifters) and you get a huge number of internet comments that don’t reflect the actual incidence or severity of side effects in the real world. Also keep in mind that finasteride became very popular in the past years with probably dozens of millions taking it worldwide just for hairloss.
Just to be clear if there were only one medicine that I was allowed to take it would be finasteride, and that is because I have a history of prostate cancer in the family for generations. So, no fin hater by any means. The problem was that when I would have sex nothing and I do mean nothing came out. Now I don’t know about you, but if I had a choice to live castrated (akin to that for me) or die at 83-85 from prostate cancer as my grandfather and father did, I’m totally fine at dropping dead at 85 but at least I died a man LOL. Again, I’m talking about me not you or anyone else that has zero side effects from it. In my case there is no need to hear %'s or how many people benefit. That clearly means zero to me when I already have my own experience with it. That is all to it not doubting its effectiveness for others at all.
But in general, outside of the few people who can’t take it, finasteride and dutasteride are the only medications worth it for keeping your hair. Are you in disagreement with my initial statement?
I started proscar-finasteride for my hair loss - pure vanity at 33 years old, but received the benefit of a prostate the size of a walnut at age 68… like a person in their 20’s. Reduced chance of prostate cancer. And, it clears cholesterol… Cornary Calcium Scan of zero at my age…we discovered that a few years ago. So many benefits from one medication… but only if your body accepts it.
Clearly, I don’t have long enough personal experience other than I thought my hair became thicker when I used Fin (used for only 3 months but maybe placebo) so If I were to guess I’d say that they do help in maintaining hair. However, we have a N=1 @Agetron (which he’s live right now) to tell us that it might have helped him but apparently not enough so he did the transplant. As I understand he’s been taking Fin for a long time yet he felt compelled to do the transplant. so that is that, maybe it helps but perhaps not a replacement for a transplant. What do i know.
I concur…would gave looked like Charles…aka @desertshores
The finasteride and later oral minoxidil kept a healthy donor supply of my DHT resistant hairs in the back and sides. Those were abundant. Took 1260… didn’t make a dent in my supply. Should I ever want to do more.
I need to continue use of finasteride and minoxidil to keep the transplanted DHT resistant hairs healthy for my remaining years… say 120 years… expected.
