Did they fail to get nih funding so theyre trying to do it on their own?

Yes - the NIH pulled funding (for some ridiculous reason - its probably their most popular project with the public). See this thread: Asking for your help to save the Dog Aging Project

I saw matt k posting on twitter about the nih trouble and to contact them a while go and he posted this link about 42% funded and I never heard in between. But I noticed a lot of familar named teams and two have donated under rapamycin.news name, but i hadnt seen a thread about that either
