YES! You can you reverse your T-Score... Normal... Osteopenia... Osteoporosi

As an early adopter of rapamycin… now over 4 years… I have been consistent with testing; otherwise, how does one know what is happening both good and bad. Going to share my first DEXA score and then my latest results the past week.

DEXA score 2022, 2-years ago… osteopenia. Lumbar/spine T-Score -1.2 and Z - 0.5. Fracture risk increased. BUMMER!

Okay… wasn’t great… but not the worst report either.

Figuring this person sees bone density issues day in and out… I asked the radiologist… what can I do to increase my bone density?

The radiologist squinted her eyes and said… that isn’t really an option. Instead you can try not to let it progress. We keep you here… you will be okay. Take a calcium supplement… and vitamin K-2.

Hmmmm… not what I wanted to hear. Damn!

On this site primarily focused on longevity one can pick up a lot of bio-hacks. A solid one learned about a year ago was daily taurine… just slip it in the morning coffee. Taurine was seen as potentially able to increase bone density and health… okay… I am in!!

The past year… I have been religiously taking taurine every morning in my coffee and nightly vitamin K-2 and a gummy calcium supplement.

DEXA score 2024, normal bone density. T-Score - .8 and Z - .0 YES! I reversed the decline from yellow - osteopenia… improved it to green - normal. Fracture risk not increased. Yes!

Both Lumbar and pelvis reversed to normal… green under -1. See T-Score 2022 and 2024. My doctor thinks the pelvis could be even better… they might not have gotten as good a reading.

At 60 years onward, a fractured pelvis or spine injury is the most likely cause of morbidity and death (37%).

Taurine… another win for health span and longevity.

Very nice ! Very objective findings, definitely not placebo effect.
Of course now the question is what moved the needle ?
My money is one the strength training that did most of the “heavy lifting” (see what I did there).

Hahaha… heavy lifting… but…
Strength training is important… but I have stuck to my same gym routine for the past 6-years… so the benefit of that was already stable… still had osteopenia… rapamycin 4 years… so that’s stable… only new thing in my routine is the taurine, K2 and calcium gummy.

Otherwise, consistent the past 4 years. My intuition is taurine… to have changed so much in just 2 years. And, the taurine was only the past year.

Research suggests that taurine has a positive effect on bone density, potentially helping to increase bone mass by promoting osteoblast activity (bone cell formation) and inhibiting osteoclast activity (bone cell breakdown), which could be beneficial in preventing bone diseases like osteoporosis; however, more research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms and optimal dosage.

I guess keep doing what you are doing, something is working.

What dose of Taurine are you on ?

Literally take a normal teaspoon full so about 8 -10 grams.

Great results - thanks for posting.

My first reaction was “I wonder what the 95% confidence interval” is for these type of tests. So I looked it up:

Defining 95% CIs for T-scores

Using representative precision values for Prodigy DXA systems from clinical centers, the 95% CI for T-scores at each skeletal site were ±0.23 at the lumbar spine, ±0.20 at the total hip, and ±0.41 at the femoral neck (Table 3). Around the T-score of −2.5, these 95% CIs defined ranges of −2.27 to −2.73 for the spine, −2.30 to −2.70 for the total hip, and −2.09 to −2.91 for the femoral neck, respectively. By statistical standards, T-scores within each range would not be significantly different

Looks like the movement is likely real, which is good to see.

I’d like to know how much K2 in each form (MK4 or MK7 or both) you’re taking, too, please.

Congrats, Agetron! You mention your supplements, but there’s something you’re doing that’s likely a lot more important: intense resistance training (and likely the TRT too).

Here is my taurine brand… buy it on Amazon.

Teaspoon shows the amount what I use in my breakfast coffee… rest of day… just coffee and French Vanilla creamer

It lasts a long time… just ordered a fresh bag… it arrives in 2 days.

K2 supplement I use.

D3 and Calcium supplement I use.

Again, since before my DEXA in 2022… and after, I have kept my workouts, diet and supplements the same. Only addition are the 3 above every day. I am pretty confident on the taurine.

Yes… but the TRT is 5 years…and muscle resistance 6 years. Which was why I assumed I would smoke the bone density score… but no?

So if my 2022 score was in osteopenia 2 years ago… with all that… previous stuff… what lead to a changed score in 2024 - if nothing else changed?

For me… Taurine, K2 and D3 Calcium. And, creatine (past 3-months) 5 grams with taurine.

Thank you for sharing your results with us. So you’re not using MK4 at all. (I use both MK7 & MK4.) I assume you’re taking one of the K2s (100mcg K2 MK7) per day.

I am at 3-5g taurine, and switching away from the brand you use, Bulk Supplements, because of the 5% (I queried) added silicon dioxide. Are you at all concerned about the silicon dioxide additive at that dose (8-10g)?

Interesting, good to know its not too late. i am 29 and just found out my t score is horrible for my age. I think its due to genetics, not enough exercise when I was younger , lack of calcium and chronic low vitamin d when younger.

With my positive results… I might get a bit more serious and add MK4… but the bulk Taurine is cheap and working… this is my 3rd bag 1 kg or 35 ounces per bag in a year.

As to the Silicon dioxide, it can also be found in the human body, where it helps develop bones and connective tissues.

Sooo… :+1: :ok_hand:.

what do you think caused osteopenia in the first place for your self? lack of vitamin d3, k2 etc?

Ahhh… my young man… age… that is it. The normal scale is based on the bone density of a 30 year old male. So yeah… I will take normal now.

Osteopenia is the medical definition for bone density loss. It can become osteoporosis if the bone density loss worsens. Some health conditions, habits and medications can increase your osteopenia risk, but it usually happens naturally as you age. Is believed to be inevitable with aging and non-reversible.

As bone density naturally decreases with age, a score slightly below -1 could also be considered within the normal range for someone in their late 60s.

So any reversal and number above -1 is fantastic… taurine, K2 vitamin and D3 with calcium supplement seemed to buy me some additional strong bone years.

Gonna need that strength… if I am going to live to be 100 plus.

I see, so it compares your results to people your age only?

here are my results. I wonder what the am (age match) means?

The standard … meaning full grown… strong healthy developed bones… are those of a 30 year old person. A T-score of “0” represents the bone density of a typical 30-year-old, meaning that if you are 30 and have a T-score of 0, your bone density is considered normal and matches the average for your age group; essentially, this is the baseline used to compare bone density against … for a bone density test (DEXA scan).

So that is normal… for comparison. Anything less is weaker and at more bone fracture risks.

Oh dear, these are my results at 29 years old. I’m focusing on increasing my calcium and vitamin D3 intake. Hopefully, I can improve my score! I go to gym 3 times a week, high protein etc. I havent drank dairy milk in years though, maybe this is why my score is bad. I still need to follow up with my GP about them, but he’s currently away.

Based on our Lumbar scores… my 66 year old Lumbar is tearing yours up. Lol.

Time for Taurine… K2 and D3 Calcium supplements.
