Why Target Aging? Which Personal Philosophy

I’m curious, which personal philosophies do people have here for targeting aging. @RapAdmin as I recall, is utilitarian Utilitarianism - Wikipedia

What part of the altruism vs. egoism spectrum are people at? Do people have a specific reason for targeting aging.

Aging sucks, looking older sucks, reduced physical capacity sucks, reduced mental capacity sucks, this happening to your loved ones sucks.

Also the world is crazy and I want to live to see what happens next.

My primary reason is that at age~85, I am still a primary caretaker. When I die, the burden will be placed on someone else. And I still enjoy life.

Might depend on your definition of “aging”. My interest is in improving healthspan for myself, my family, and the world in general. Don’t know if that answers your question.

I use the definition here of Primary Aging and Secondary Aging. And yes, that answers my question, but everyone can discuss anything here.

Some have a more egotism perspective (not in the bad sense, but like Ayn Rand), others have a mix, or from the altruism perspective based on mitigating the bad, increasing the Good. Personal identity can also play a role, and differ on action and identification. E.g one can be more of a closed individualist, but think some actions based on Open Individualism, if that’s a preference, perhaps.

00:13:42-00:17:00~ Valence realism (Log scales of pleasure and pain) + Open Individualism as a cure for Nihilism, typical solipsism?
