Why do we develop plaque in our arteries, but not our veins?

Some years ago I read a book by a cardiologist who said that plaque develops in areas of high stress. He also said that everybody, even babies, have some level of plaque.

I came to the conclusion that plaque, per se, is normal; that it’s basically an aftermarket way to strengthen the arteries where it is needed. Overabundance is a symptom of things gone wonky, but it’s a normal process gone awry.

This video is about the biochemistry, which is a different layer – the how, not the why.

Plaque being somehow good is a cope I have not encountered yet until now, even in the keto community.
