I’ve been using NNN powder from a British company for several years. Previously I’ve been very happy with their products. However, the most recent batch of powder tastes distinctly different than what I have been getting previously from them, and what I’ve bought from other companies.
I asked them to investigate, and they talked with their supplier and said everything is fine. I’m still nervous because it tastes different. Any thoughts? Thank you.
I’ve always used DoNotAge. According to the testing certs they provided, they are authentic and high quality. I’m assuming that’s the British company you’ve been using?
iherb analyzes some of the products it sells and provides itest reports. california gold nutrition brand nmn is one of them. I recommend you to take a look.
Thanks very much. And yes, that’s the company I have been using. But as I mentioned, the taste of their latest batch is
Significantly different than any other NMN I’ve ever consumed, including from them. That makes me nervous. Any thoughts?
This is one of the best sources for NMN. They have been mfg it for quite a while and was my first supplier of NMN.
Many brands use them as a bulk supplier.
DoNotAge does not produce the compounds, they are a marketing company. As are most supplement vendors, including myself. Our only difference is we have a custom formulation with 9 compounds as opposed to mono-supplements, which only require encapsulating and bottling.
Snake oil does nothing, whereas NMN actually does something that can be measured.
The question is, does that matter?
Since NMN does increase telomere length, and the increase in telomere length is enabled by the enzyme telomerase, we know that NMN increases telomerase. Telomerase has other beneficial functions
Are longer telomeres important?
" In white blood cells, the length of telomeres ranges from 8,000 base pairs in newborns to 3,000 base pairs in adults and as low as 1,500 in elderly people. (An entire chromosome has about 150 million base pairs.) Each time it divides, an average cell loses 30 to 200 base pairs from the ends of its telomeres."
My DoNotAge NMN, if not used quickly, does start turning a light brown color and developing an off smell. It’s a lot different from the crystal white color and fresh smell when first opened. My guess is that maybe your batch is a bit old or had some moisture exposure?
I would encourage anyone using or interested in NMN to look at Michael Lustgarten’s @ConquerAging podcasts on NAD precursors. He tells you exactly what works.
