What is the cheapest bulk source of astaxanthin?

I’ve been looking for the cheapest reliable bulk source of astaxanthin. I’m looking to take more than the standard 12mg a day as an experiment.

Cheapest I could get on iHerb is the Nutricost brand, 120caps at $0.379AUD/cap

Cheapest I’ve found online is Bulk Supplements. They have 180caps at $0.316AUD/cap, and a 10000caps option but that is not available right now.

I want to avoid the random brands that appear on Amazon, I do not trust Amazon as a source of anything edible.

I looked on Alibaba and I could get 24000caps for $1359.01AUD including shipping which works out to $0.056AUD/cap. There is the question of if this is even real or if it is just red food dyed gutter oil. Not to say that China can’t have great prices on legitimate products but it’s hard to know.

I would love to get either a cheap bulk source of premade caps, or a reliable bulk extract powder that I could encapsulate myself using my powder capsuling machine.

I use the Bulk Supplements one. There was a study done on them and they are legit.

That’s what I am leaning towards. What dose do you take a day?

I take 2 of their capsules daily, so 12 mg*2.

It is worth doing a deep dive on the research on astaxanthin. I did so a few years ago and concluded that benefit curves flatten at ~12-16 mg/day and that there could be downsides to higher doses based on several forms of reasoning. I recall a rodent study (always questionable) showing damage at high levels but the overall evidentiary base against high doses was broader than that.

I would suggest going directly to the https://bulksupplements.com/ website instead of Amazon. You’re more likely to get fresher product with less third party handling from Amazon FBA. You can get promotional codes for the official website often with coupon browser addons like Coupert.

I do like the Bulk Supplements website. There are products there that are not sold on Amazon (like NMN powder). However, there are expensive shipping charges.
