Interesting, except that the stereotyping doesn’t much resemble what it feels like to be 80. Half of the 40-50 year old "youngsters: I know are obese, take statins and proton-pump inhibitors, are or are close to T2D, have bad joints, and are otherwise metabolically unhealthy. Being 80 definitely entails declines in functional systems and resultant capacity but it is different, more subtle, and much more complex than represented in this article, which also seems to ignore or misunderstand the role of adaptive change.
Agree @desertshores?
This is part of the global experiment in starting with bad mtDNA.
