Video Review Human Trial Coenzyme Q10 and Selenium

Yes, I saw this paper a couple of weeks ago. I had been taking Se and CoEQ10 for some 2 years, but not usually on the same day. So I rescheduled them so I take them on the same days, FWIW (might make no difference but anyway…)

I and my wife have a bad reaction to CoQ10 (ubiquinol). It makes us feel like we are having AFIB. I do take Selenium though.

Dr Stanfield did recent video on CoQ10. As I recall, it was not favorable.

Some studies suggest that taking CoQ10 reduces muscle aches for some people taking statins but that is probably just a placebo effect. I can find no definitive studies that taking CoQ10 is worth it.

“When the studies are double-blind — meaning neither the patient nor the doctor know if the medication they are getting is a statin or a sugar pill — then a coenzyme Q10 supplement has never been shown to be helpful in reducing muscle ache”

And a general search locates 600 papers using

“Coq10 and statins”

If quantity meant anything, resveratrol would be the king of longevity supplements (over 17,000 papers)… but its not:

You must read many paper’s, review reference use critical thinking before you make a decision.

Do you make a decision based on a single paper/source?

The majority of prescription medication only work in less than 10% of the people who take the prescription medication, prescribed by their physician.

"When participants in the studies know that they are getting coenzyme Q10, results often show that they experience fewer muscle aches. When the studies are double-blind — meaning neither the patient nor the doctor know if the medication they are getting is a statin or a sugar pill — then a coenzyme Q10 supplement has never been shown to be helpful in reducing muscle aches.
I stand by my previous statement.

In your view and some other people’s views.

You can be assured their are many people{in the scientific community] who think resveratrol has a medical benefit.

Not even using Sinclair’s work.

It might - I don’t really question that, its just for longevity its been vastly, vastly oversold. And negative results don’t get published (a problem that is a big issue more broadly).
