Veradermics announces positive top-line phase III results for extended release oral minoxidil

Specifically designed to have a better safety profile. Lots of people have been holding off from off-label oral minoxidil use for hair loss due to cardiac safety concerns, this is a reassuring update.

I also think the BP lowering effects of being able to take higher doses with less peaks could be a life extension intervention on its own.

All this is is time release minoxid tablets. Split the 10mg tablets into 2 or 3 portions and you get almost the same effects. I think the half life for the regular medication is 4 hours.

For what it’s worth Avi doesn’t believe oral minoxidil at low doses causes cardiac safety issues in healthy people without preexisting conditions. I haven’t reviewed this evidence myself.

I think it’s extremely rare (and that concerns were overblown based on old studies on extremely fragile elderly patients with treatment resistant hypertension and comorbidities).

But a factor here can also be that someone on OM doesn’t know their true cardiovascular risk factors. It’s prescribed like candy now.

The claimed breakthrough from Veradermics is that there’s a “cardiac threshold” you can stay below that reduces adverse events even further.

Anagen already started selling their own version called MINX https://anagen.xyz/products/minoxidil-5-mg
