I’ve been following this with a mixture of interest and concern, but more concern. Any vaccine that aims, as one under study does, to confer protection for the broad range of viruses from those that cause the common cold to full range of influenzas, should give us pause to consider the downsides. Not that long ago medical science was of the opinion that we would be better off if we could kill all bacteria.
