Synthesized form of carnosic acid (from rosemary) : how to obtain?

Read several studies describing how diAcCA, a synthesized, stable form of carnosic acid (which is derived from rosemary) is neuroprotective. The principal investigator is Stuart Lipton MD PhD at Step Family Foundation at LaJolla.

How does one go about obtaining diAcCA, which is under study but not yet “approved.”? or, workarounds? grind up some rosemary and stuff into capsules?

I have used rosemary to make tea. But Carnosic acid has poor water solubility. By making tea I get the rosmarinic acid from rosemary but I probably don’t get much carnosic acid.

Why not just add rosemary to food? I eat a ton of
It along with numerous other spices because I’m salt sensitive so need other ways to flavor food. Nearly all spices have some beneficial property to them.

High-Carnosic Acid Rosemary Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 tbsp dried, finely crushed rosemary leaves (higher carnosic acid than fresh)
  • 1.5 cups (350 ml) hot water (90–95°C / 195–205°F) – just below boiling
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar (acidic pH stabilizes carnosic acid)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or MCT oil (optional, for fat-soluble absorption)

Estimated Carnosic Acid Content

  • This method MAY extract 5–15 mg per cup (vs. 1–5 mg in traditional steeping)
