Some Beneficial Off-Label Uses of Some Common Drugs

The Sit-To-Stand test from a chair does as much or more for balance, knees and lower back. Plus, it’s free. You can do 25 or so several times a day.

Another more challenging exercise that may add years to life and life to years is the Sitting-Rising-Standing test from the floor.

I’ve now tried both Selegiline and Modafinil. They are both amazing substances for mood and calmness. While both tend to feel similar on the positive effects there is certainly differences, especially with regards to side effect. For me 1.25mg of Selegiline is exactly my sweet spot and I feel amazing the whole day on it (btw I put it under my tongue first think upon waking up). It does not negatively affect sleep, nor can I tell any negative effect whatsoever from taking it, if anything for me it has a bit of a positive effect on sleep. Also, unlike modafinil there is no late afternoon crush, just same consistent pleasant feeling (nothing earth shattering LOL) all day long.

As for Modafinil (I’ve taken 50mg three-four times already) it is a bit of a mixed bag story. First of it is very powerful and while I like its effect for what’s supposed to do, it does seem to have couple unwanted side effects at least in my case. It tends to have crush and burn towards the end of the day and not the good one, but the one that I’m tired yet I can’t sleep type of crush. For about 5-7 hours initially though it makes one more sociable, and eager to do things and does feel good. There is however an increase on hunger (significant in my case), which is not evident with selegiline, as well as while mentally and mood wise, I feel good on modafinil, it somehow gives me weak legs especially from the knee down which is noticeable when I’m climbing stairs, as an example. So, most likely I’ll only use modafinil very rarely. As for Selegiline at 1.25mg it has become a staple, and I intend to use it daily. I just ordered 600 tablets of 5mg which should be good for about 6-7 years or so.

Btw, as it stands right now Selegiline is by far my favorite intervention, it does seem to help with inflammation (inflammation is a big problem for me) as well as with mood, alertness, and motivation in a nice and noticeable, but subtle way, exactly what I was looking for without compromising sleeping time/habits. I was using LDN which had somewhat similar effects (not as noticeable though) but now LDN is in the back seat lol.
