There is virtually no published scientific evidence that proves taking smaller-than-standard doses of tirzepatide or semaglutide — the active ingredients in Zepbound and Ozempic, respectively — is safe or effective. But that hasn’t stopped patients like Babb from trying nonstandard doses for a broad array of reasons, including expectations of improved wellness and longevity.

This is behind a pay wall, unfortunately. Also, there simply haven’t been studies done yet with “microdosing”. And there’s no formal definition of the word “microdose”. Some misuse the term and apply it to those who break up the weekly dose into multiple injections per week, when really it should be reserved for those who are taking less of the total weekly dose than has been studied to date.
Given the huge spectrum of responsiveness to these meds (some require the max dose to see much of any effect, while others respond dramatically to even the lowest doses), it should be no surprise that some will still benefit from a “micro dose”.
