Side Effects and Sensitivities?

Have you had any side effects or sensitivities that compelled you to reduce or stop a med or supplement?

This has happened to me a few times.

Tried bempedoic acid. Severe leg cramps. Stopped, restarted, confirmed it was the BA.

Developed an itchy rash, arms, shoulders. Just happenstance that I read that Taurine can cause a rash. I had increased gradually from1 gram to 2, and then 3. Went back to 1 gram, which I had tolerated well. Rash has cleared up.

For the past several weeks have had significant edema in feet and ankles. Progresses during the day and regresses after sleep. I looked up Lasix and discovered that there is an interaction with Lithium Orotate. I had moved from 1 mg to alternating 1 and 5, to 5 every night. So now will back way off and hope that the edema resolves. I had suspected the creatine, but it is HCL, and I was not getting any bloating at all in my face so it is most likely not the creatine HCL. So may eventually restart that.

There is a great deal of sharing here about side effects of rapamycin and metformin, but had not seen any discussion of sides for taurine, BA, or lithium orotate so decided to post.

Anyone else have experience with unexpected reactions?

Night time severe leg cramps is my warning signal that I am taking too much of something (bp meds), or something doesn’t agree with me at all (statins).

Too many to list since I have been experimenting with supplements and medicines for decades. The most surprising was developing an intolerance to metformin after decades of use.

Too many to list here, too. If I had a quarter for every time a practitioner looked at me sideways and said, “I’ve never heard of that reaction before,” I’d have enough for a nice meal.

Occasionally I get leg cramps which I attribute to taking rosuvastatin. They are infrequent enough that I continue to take the med.
