FWIW…

Russian do not exaggerate, talk nonsense, saber rattle, etc, Russian tell you what they are going to do and act(they do it).

Carnac the Magnificent
I see…

The Russian Federation Medical system will develop a program to meet the goal stated in the posted article and provide this treatment to all{Russian National’s] who want the treatment at very little or no cost.

They will be the first Nation that will classify aging as a
“treatable disease”.

They had a similar project for Covid vaccines and it wasn’t a massive success.

@adssx Did Putin ever get covid though? Think the protocols for him (and around him) kept him from getting covid while basically all other world leaders did (more than once).

And think Putin might care massively more about longevity medicines for himself where there are no available solutions elsewhere, than he did about covid vaccines, where he personally was able to access whatever was best from anywhere on the planet.

The impact Putin could have on the field of longevity therapies if he decides to is probably at least as big as Bezos via Altos or the Saudi initiative?

He was secluded in a bunker so who knows whether he had Covid or not :man_shrugging:

If he cared that much he would already be on rapamycin + SGLT2? (he might already who knows!)

What’s the impact of Altos and Hevolution so far?

What you will never hear from Western countries

The facts are they produced a conventional vaccine before anyone else. Full production and availability even sold product to other countries.

But then again people do not like the truth.

Have you ever been to Russia to a medical facility?

For the general public nothing, for those with the re$ource$ whole funded both organization’s the general public will never know at this time. In the future sometime, information may leak out.

Not sure I understand your points / are you saying that Altos is not a positive for the science of longevity? And/or that efforts of that scale would not be good to have more of rather than less?

Ah yes, it’s good to have a sense of humor these days. Seriously, it would be so great if they took some of their Petro-dollars and invest in longevity, we need all advanced countries to take a whack at this problem.

They sell there oil in there own currency(when Libya and Iraq (both wanted to be paid in gold not USD) tried this they where stoped asap, then they did not have the largest nuclear arsenal on the planet) or the currency of the buyers.

They stopped selling oil in “Petro-dollars” since the SMO started on February 2022.

The majority of people are not aware that the Russian Federation is the second largest producers of oil.

When you hear OPEC+.

OPEC

“Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries”

Who do you think the + is?

Why are we digressing from the original subject matter?

That would be Edward Bernays.

How did Professor Vladimir Khavinson die?

"Vladimir Putin’s anti-aging guru has died suddenly aged 77 in a significant blow to the dictator.

The cause of death of Professor Vladimir Khavinson, director of the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, has not been revealed. Khavinson famously claimed he was developing the secret for humans to live to 110 or 120 by slowing the process of aging"

"‌He once said: “I am often asked abroad: how did you do it? Everything was based on the achievements of the Soviet Union, the Military Medicine Academy, and the Defence Ministry who financed this research for military purposes.” He was allowed to secretly test his experimental drugs on Russian people under the cloak of military confidentiality.”

Still a big mystery surrounding Professor Vladimir Khavinson’s death.
A coincidentally large number of Putin’s circle die from mysterious causes such as falling from high balconies.

If his death was not accidental it does not speak too highly of the efficacy of his various peptides etc. Perhaps he just did not tell Putin what he wanted to hear.

He certainly was a major pioneer of peptides.

Let’s not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Yes, there are some good studies from each of the countries you mentioned.

Good to see any government’s commitment to longevity. Let’s see what Russia can do

Absolutely true, as there are two-headed cows being born out there too😂! But joking aside, shabby and fraudulent papers are far from rare, unfortunately absolutely everywhere, including the U.S. very much. The question is in the proportion of good to bad, and there Russia is just about at the bottom.

I’m just reacting to the fact that while this news item is being treated as a meme by most, there are apparently some who take it at face value, and even believe that somehow the Russians might deliver, because as everyone knows Russians are 10 feet tall and stronkk, very stronkk! It’s like seeing a report on one of those hilarious Nigerian Prince fraud emails and having a good laugh, and then someone in the room goes, “but wait, there are these Nigerian Princes, very rich, very corrupt, and wanting to give us $10000000bajillion for just a small fee, I think it’s a real opportunity we should not sleep on!!”. But then, we should remind ourselves that a lot of people actually do fall for the Nigerian email scams… just as there are many who fall for Russian propaganda. Same as it ever was.

An older paper{from 2009] from Russia titled;

“35-year experience in research of peptide regulation of aging”

Authors:

Vladimir Khavinson at St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology

  • St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology

Vladimir N Anisimov at N.N. Petrov Research Institute of Oncology, Saint-Petersburg, Russia

  • N.N. Petrov Research Institute of Oncology, Saint-Petersburg, Russia

Abstract

The results of 35-year-long studies on mechanisms of aging and on efficacy of peptide bioregulators in prevention of age-related pathology are presented in this review paper. The data have been obtained with most advanced methods in collaboration with research laboratories of Russia, USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France. The molecular model of complementary interrelation of short peptides with promoter site of genes which is a background of protein biosynthesis initiation has been suggested. The prospects of clinical use of peptide bioregulators for prevention of premature aging of the active population in Russia are discussed.

The paper published is in Russian;

Any extra investment in figuring out how to extend human lifespans is a positive in my book, no matter who is doing the research.

The field could also do with some new ideas, and the Russians may identify different approaches that haven’t been explored yet.

No doubt they (like others) will run into plenty of dead-ends; but the big breakthroughs will only come from exloring new avenues rather than just from perfecting things like rapamycin and its analogues.

I just hope they are taking it seriously. If you believe the article, the aspiration to extend Russian’s lifespans isn’t yet backed up with the massive funding that such an undertaking will need.

You are assuming that they will actually do some research on this. But odds are absolutely nothing will happen. It’s an empty propaganda exercise with nothing behind it. I doubt there’s a single rubel or kopeck of funding behind it, and if there is it’ll disappear into some deep pockets never to be heard from again. The person behind this project is a Putin crony who is not only trying to butter up Putin, but who is himself completely insane, and a well known crank who believes in the “Russian genome” - he’s a madman. From the article:

"Mikhail Kovalchuk a physicist and member of an elite group close to Putin, is reported to have lobbied for the project. He “raves about eternal life and the ‘Russian genome,’” a Kremlin source said.

Folks, there is no reality behind this. This is a poor man’s Lysenkoism of the Russian Genome crankery, and old tradition in Russia:

Lysenkoism - Wikipedia.

Have you actually read this newsweek article? Here’s the funding:

“A source close to the Kremlin told the publications that the government lacks the funding for a project of this scale.”

“All the modern research discussed in the national project is quite expensive - it requires a lot of money and expenses. The development of new drugs costs billions, no national project can handle it, especially now,” the source said. “I don’t think they will be able to put together anything meaningful quickly.”

Do you know how much thought went into this?

"One Russian doctor who received the letter in June said they were surprised that physicians were asked to work on the proposals with such urgency.

“We were asked to urgently send all our developments, and the letter arrived, let’s say, today, but everything had to be sent yesterday. To be honest, this is the first time in my life that I’ve encountered this - usually any national project or FTP [federal target program] is preceded by a series of meetings with the participation of various specialists, some kind of public discussion,” the doctor said."

There is no reality behind this, it’s really a joke on the Nigerian Prince email level and anyone who thinks any actual research will happen, may as well look for millions in his account thanks to a lost Prince from Africa.

lol. if you actually read my last paragraph, you will see that I not assuming anything, whereas you are assuming quite a lot.

Really, we’re going to do this? OK:

On the contrary it does matter who does the research. A creationist who does “research” on evolution by studying the bible brings zero value to the field. This Russian announcement is from someone who is the euivalent in biology of creationism, as he believes in a distinct “Russian genome” - this has as little value as the Lysenkoism that destroyed Soviet genetic research for decades.

“The field could also do with some new ideas, and the Russians may identify different approaches that haven’t been explored yet.”

The Russians will identify no approaches, let alone different ones, as this proposal is just empty words with zero behind it. Would you also say that “we could do with some different sources of money” in response to an article about a Nigerian Prince scam email? It makes as little sense. Nobody would even dignify either with any speculation as to the funds from the email scam or results from this “research” that exists only as a press release.

“No doubt they (like others) will run into plenty of dead-ends; but the big breakthroughs will only come from exloring new avenues rather than just from perfecting things like rapamycin and its analogues.”

Clearly - with your own words - you are in fact postulating that “they” (Russians) might run into dead ends - but that clearly, CLEARLY assumes that they will do research, otherwise how can they run into dead ends. But there will be no research. You are only ASSUMING there will be research. There won’t. The Nigerian Prince is not sending money, and in fact there is no Nigerian Prince. There is not and will not be any research, dead end or otherwise as a result of this press release.

“I just hope they are taking it seriously.” Would you also hope the Nigerian Prince has funds to send you? This is about as reasonable a hope. There is ZERO chance that anyone in Russia is taking this seriously. The sole reality of this project is as a press release, or Nigerian email scam.

“If you believe the article, the aspiration to extend Russian’s lifespans isn’t yet backed up with the massive funding that such an undertaking will need.”

The “aspiration” isn’t “yet” backed up, in the same way the Nigerian Princes email is not “yet” backed by millions of dollars about to flow to your bank account. There is no “yet”. There is only “lol, never”. The very use of the word “yet” assumes there is a possibility that there will be funding for this wild project. There is no such possibility - just as there is no possibility that the Nigerian Prince has millions for you… in fact, the Nigerian Prince doesn’t exist, just as this project doesn’t exist except as an email in one case and an empty press release in the other.

And now I’m done with this topic, because just as in the case of the Nigerian Prince scam emails, some folks will always, always believe in that reality no matter what anyone else says. Good luck with the Russian cure for aging.
