Rosehip for arthritis

A friend put me onto rosehip about 6 months ago for my hand arthritis which was becoming more painful and stiff and for which I was having to take pain killers several times a week. Within 48hours there was marked improvement and now, with 6 months of use, I’d say it is 90% better. I’ve recommended it to many friends and everyone finds it beneficial.

I buy organic dried rosehip shells online then grind small batches with my spice (coffee) grinder. I started with 2 level teaspoons per day (proper measuring spoon) sprinkled on my muesli, and have recently cut it down to 1 tsp per day to see if the effect lasts. So far so good.

So of course, I asked search & got this reply. It’s seems like it may be worth trying.

Rosehip, particularly in the form of powder or supplements, has shown promise in reducing pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It may be a viable alternative or supplement to traditional arthritis treatments, offering potential pain relief and reduced reliance on pain medication. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

How Rosehip May Help Arthritis: [2, 3, 5, 6]

  • Anti-inflammatory Properties: Rosehip contains compounds, like galactolipids, that may help reduce inflammation in the joints. [2, 2, 5, 5]
  • Pain Relief: Studies suggest rosehip can reduce pain associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. [2, 2, 4, 4, 7, 7]
  • Reduced Painkiller Use: Some research indicates that rosehip may lead to a decrease in the need for pain medication, such as NSAIDs, in individuals with arthritis. [3, 3, 7, 7]
  • Improved Joint Function: Rosehip may help improve joint flexibility and range of motion in some individuals with osteoarthritis. [8, 8]

Forms of Rosehip:

  • Powder: Rosehip powder is a concentrated source of its beneficial compounds. [1, 1, 9, 9]
  • Supplements: Rosehip supplements are widely available in capsule or tablet form. [1, 1, 4, 4, 10]
  • Oil: Rosehip oil can be used topically, but is not typically recommended for internal use. [1, 1, 11, 11]
  • Tea: Rosehip tea is another way to consume rosehip, though it may be less concentrated. [1, 1, 9]

Dosage and Usage:

  • Powder: Studies have used dosages ranging from 5 to 14 grams daily for arthritis pain, often divided into smaller doses throughout the day. [9]
  • Supplements: Follow the dosage instructions on the product label or consult with a healthcare professional. [1, 9]
  • Rosehip oil: Apply topically to affected areas as directed by a healthcare professional. [11]

Important Considerations:

  • Individual Results May Vary: While many studies have shown positive effects, some individuals may not experience the same level of benefit. [2, 2, 3, 3, 7, 12, [13](The Beneficial Omega-6 Fatty Acid - page 1 - Life Extension]
  • Consult with a Healthcare Professional: Before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications, it’s crucial to consult with your doctor or a qualified healthcare provider. [1, 1, 11, 11]
  • Not a Cure: Rosehip is not a cure for arthritis, but it may help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. [3, 3]

Im normally cynical about stuff like this but within 48 hrs of starting crushed rosehip in my berry/seeds/nuts/yoghurt breakfast my painful ankle (FH of osteoarthritis) has gone.
Even Rapamycin wouldnt shift it.
I think there might be something in this (n=1 obviously)

Did you crush them yourself or purchase them?
If purchased, what brand and dosage did you use?

Bought 500g on Anazon. Seems to be a German company. I have a grinder.

Maybe but works where Naproxen didnt
