Ribosome Pausing

I have been listening remotely to “The Aging Genome” which is an interesting conference.

I thought I should highlight the most recent presentation I have heard by Domenico Di Fraia.

In essence it has been found that there is a decoupling in the conversion (Translation) of mRNA into protein. This was using Killifish.

What happens is that mRNA piles up to a greater extent, but as a result of Ribosome Pausing the proteins are not created.

I think this is a consequence of mitochondrial inefficiency, but that is not being considered as the reason as far as I can tell.

Interesting… where are the audio files or video files?

None yet … need to have 20 chars to post
