Red Blood Cells grown from stem cells

I know this is slightly off topic, but I thought it was really interesting. Creating red blood from stem cells seems like a positive step on the road to blood rejuvenation. If, a technology like Era from Turn bio could reverse stem cell age from a donor and then produce young blood cells it may provide some interesting benefits. The article mentioned that the blood cells were ‘fresh’

I’d be interested to see how this progresses.

Its an interesting idea, but getting bone marrow to work properly to produce endogenous erithrocytes is a better objective.

Creating red blood cells is a first step on the road to artificial blood products, which could have value beyond genetic disorders for longevity. Beyond that I’m sure eventually they’ll be able to diversify the technology to create different tissue types.
