Interesting that they say “popular” supplement. I’ve never taken it and don’t recall reading much about it. Does anyone else take it? Is it really that popular?
Maybe you weren’t into health food supplements at the time it became popular.
One of the many supplements Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw promoted in their books, Life Extension: A Practical Scientific Approach. It became a #1 New York Times bestseller and sold over two million copies, along with The Life Extension Companion and The Life Extension Weight Loss Program.
They also were guests on many talk shows of the era.
“The couple appeared on The Merv Griffin Show more than 30 times, generating immense fan mail. They also made regular appearances on Larry King Live.”
Durk claimed that Sandy became more verbally fluent and verbose after taking it.
I have taken it on and off over the years, mainly because it was also supposed to be a mood elevator. No evidence that it is. Currently I am not taking it now.
lol. I remember them. What a pair. I did read the book. Wonder what became of them.

I tend to be impressed by credentials because I know how much work goes into just a bachelor’s degree. MIT is one of the hardest schools to get into. I wish I could have gone there.
Pearson graduated from MIT with a triple major in physics, biology, and psychology. Died October 26, 2024 (aged 81). Durk Pearson died from sepsis, which occurred as a complication following surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Sandy Shaw received her degree from UCLA in 1966, with a double major in chemistry and zoology and a minor in mathematics. Died March 12, 2022 (aged 78), reason not disclosed.
They were fun and ahead of their time. I’m sure they had very high IQs. They were multi-talented.
“They acted as scientific and technical advisors and received screen credits for the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox, designing special effects for all the scenes after Eastwood entered the Firefox cockpit. They also acted as scientific and technical advisors and received screen credits for Douglas Trumbull’s movie Brainstorm, starring Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. In the same year they co-authored with Steve Sharon The Dead Pool, a high-tech thriller, which was sold to Warner Bros. and made into a movie, once again starring Clint Eastwood.”
