Ivermectin and Mebendazole Combo for Cancer

ChatGPT short summary:

The study is a prospective observational cohort study of 197 cancer patients who were prescribed off-label ivermectin plus mebendazole, with 122 completing a six-month follow-up. Among those 122 patients, 48.4% reported either no current evidence of disease or tumor regression, another 36.1% reported stable disease, and 15.6% reported progression, producing a reported “clinical benefit ratio” of 84.4%. About 25% reported side effects, which were generally described as mild and mostly gastrointestinal. However, the crucial limitation is that the cancer outcomes were self-reported and were not independently confirmed by imaging or medical records, there was no control group, and many patients were simultaneously receiving chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, supplements, dietary interventions, or other treatments. The authors themselves therefore characterize the findings as hypothesis-generating rather than proof that ivermectin and mebendazole caused the cancer improvements, and call for randomized controlled trials.

Jay Chaplin has been very critical of the Mebendazole/Ivermectin combo. There is data for Mebendazole:

“ Mebendazole is an anti-parasitic drug that inhibits tubulin polymerization, preventing the formation of cellular microtubules needed for division and survival. In oncology, established chemotherapy drugs like vinca alkaloids (e.g., vincristine) and taxanes (e.g., paclitaxel) share this exact microtubule-targeting mechanism and possess vastly superior clinical effectiveness”.

There is really no good data for Ivermectin, but a lot of anecdotal claims. Maybe there is something there— I dunno.

In general I think it is wise to carefully evaluate all treatment options whether on or off label and decide what is best in each case. We all would love a magic bullet, but sometimes the best you have is a handful of really good bullets of different types.
