13.6% increase in median lifespan in male mice when fed Keto on Mon, Wed, and Fri each week starting at 12 months of age. 7.9% increase when fed two consecutive days each week:
In a separate study, male mice fed Keto every day also had a 13.6% increase in median lifespan when started at 12 months of age:
This example also adds the variable of switching in and out of ketosis, which must be a stress of some amount. Perhaps there is a hormesis effect involved in this study. I have long wondered if I would be better off with a variable diet rather than eating largely the same type of thing every day. Now that I am varying my protein significantly on a daily basis maybe I should also go for more variability in everything I eat……
I also thought about pulsing various nutrients.
Starve one nutrient and you deplete the store.
Over feed a nutrient and you might waste it if the store is full.
How do I know if the store is near full or near empty.
Difficult question, but I would suggest some variability from day to day simply to avoid boredom.
