I see the authors are from Turkey, and I wondered about the general quality of the works produced there (is it similar to Iran?). Google says:
Medical studies from Turkey are generally considered reliable, with many Turkish institutions and pharmaceutical companies adhering to high international standards for clinical research. While the quality of individual studies should be assessed on a case-by-case basis, the country has seen a significant increase in clinical research, leading to a growing number of high-quality, internationally-cited papers. However, a past issue with predatory journals has been identified, suggesting that critical evaluation is still important, as outlined in this National Institutes of Health (.gov) article.
The bastions of knowledge dose not come from only the United States.
Probably as good as the US. The US produces its fair share of junk science and papers.
Without getting political I worry that RFKj’s arrival is going to affect the quality and bias of some research areas from the US. Hence fora like this even more important for deep dives
Bias for sure, I think. If certain topics can’t get NIH research funding, they have to turn to industry, private sponsors etc.
And I do think research out of Turkey should be fine. They have high educational standards, and good universities, and some quite well equipped labs. And this sort of study is relatively easy to perform and doesn’t require a too much in terms of resources.
4mg/kg in rat, divide by 6.2 to get human equivalent = 0.6mg/kg, or 42mg per day for a 70kg human. A standard supplement dose is 12mg, but I have no idea whether the metabolism, half life etc is similar though.
