Importing Medicine to the UK

Is there any problem importing Medicine from India to the UK? I have some friends there and too many of my packages are being seized by USA customs. Is there a similar problem shipping to the UK? @John_Hemming

No problem at all. It is perfectly legal to import medicines for personal use.
Avoid using DHL though as they still demand to see a prescription, but the usual IndiaPost route works fine.
I’ve had a 100% success rate.

@RPS is mainly right.

There are controlled substances such as heroin and cocaine (and cannabis) that people are not allowed to import, but otherwise for personal use (including for immediate family) there are no limits.

I did have a problem once with a large import of melatonin that was for my own personal use, but was probably more than 3 months supply. Otherwise I have not had a problem.

There are, however, no regulations on import for personal use.

Same. I’ve had Rapamycin, melatonin and recently SGLT2i with no problems

Sometimes to the thr Us there are issues so I would imagine that the UK would have about the same rate of issues

The law in the US is different. Hence the outcomes should logically be different and AIUI they are.

I have been importing prescription medicines* including nootropics, and supplements I couldn’t get in the UK, for around 40 years. I cannot remember ever having a consignment seized. A couple have gone missing in the post, but we have much better tracking nowadays. I’d wait up to 4 weeks with unease, after it was shipped, then the package would turn up with the postman!

(*without a prescription).

I’ve generally kept the amounts low, e.g. cost less than GBP100 because it was too much to risk. I am sure John is correct and that too large a shipment might have problems. As I understand it, this has to be less than 3 months supply and for personal use.
