I just took plant protein powder and felt how its increased bioavailability knocked me out more

I think a lot of people who use animal protein and/or fairly high-protein diets to maximize muscle hypertrophy are hoping that cycling on/off (either daily via time restricted eating or periodic fasting) will allow them to get the benefits without the downsides, but to my knowledge this hasn’t been tested yet. Would be great to see some mouse studies comparing high protein with/without time restricted feeding and low protein (or vegetable protein or high protein but low methionine) on life span and skeletal muscle mass, etc etc to try to sort out some of these issues.

Yes, high protein, low methionine is the combination I’m interested in…

just guessing here but i think these cultures with long lifespans and low protein intake can be explained by the fact that protein is expensive. Wealthier cultures that can afford to eat a lot of animal protein can also afford a lot of food that is not good for them and much more food in general (obesity)

By the way, I have no idea which diet is better, just riffing.
