HYROX: The World Series of Fitness Racing

I just stumbled into this new fitness type of competition. Just getting started on learning about it, but it seems to be pro-longevity (if not taken to extremes / injury)… anyone here looked into it? Perhaps of something to train for (but not compete in) for people over 40?

The variety of training / activities seems like a good approach broadly speaking.

The functional exercise stations are consistent at every event where participants will complete the following:[18]

All participants complete the running and stations. Station weights and repetitions can differ based on the division.[18]

Someone I know has a Hyrox gym here in Belgium and he is going to compete internationally in Hyrox. Hyrox training is a fun way to train, but to get good at it, just like Nike Bare, you have to at least:
run 4x per week, do strength 3x AND do Hyrox workouts…

I think this sort of thing is great. For a person with a busy life full of non physical activities the whole “hybrid athlete” approach seems sensible. That said, at this point in my life I won’t compete on volume of physical workload. I wouldn’t be able to trust my judgement in the heat of the moment. An injury would cost me too much. And some injuries are forever. Patience is key now. I won’t break any records but I won’t need spinal surgery either.

Looks like an intense event!
It would be cool to see another event added in that race like a striking target/punching bag that can measure the power of each strike. A contestant has to reach a certain # using various punches and kicks, while the ref makes sure they do the correct strike.
As boxing seems to be one of the highest paying sport per minute of action.

It was from riders between 1930-1964, so they were probably using different “enhancements” or none at all perhaps.
Though it would be nice to see about riders from 1970-current day in a study like this one day
