Intrigued!! I went to the link and it leads me to believe it might be superior in skin thickening. I have always had paper thin skin and worry about that baseline for when I’m much older.

Do you happen to know if there are any potential negative side effects with this? I’m interested in using it on my body, not just my face. Too much vit A, when used all over the body could be too much, according to my derm.

That ingredient is easily found in many moisturizers, as you know. It’s not the be all end all though, so don’t be afraid of a product if it doesn’t contain HA.

I have always had dry/dehydrated skin, so to help your cause, that particular product would never be my go to.

If this is for your face after adapalene, I’d look for a thick oil based cream to put on before bed, even if over your adapalene, but definitely on off nights. Thick heavy oily barrier types of creams will do so much more than oil free light gels. It will help lock in moisture. You can also look for ceramides and or glycerin.

You can definitely use a drugstore brand that costs less than $30. I guess in the UK that would be boots? If you join the facebook group for Caroline Hirons (the british grande dame of skincare), you can ask people in the group what they recommend at your price point. The majority of the group if in the UK, so they will also have great tips for local products.

Offhand, Cervae is a solid and well priced brand you could check out.

A link to the group if you want to join and ask for recommendations (or search for previous posts)

Thanks, @Beth.

I’m glad you said that as I already have this one on order due to arrive tomorrow. It’s on offer at Ā£11.20, so I bought 3 of them. Not sure if you can see the link properly though outside the UK.

I don’t know what the systemic absorption of MB is, but obviously you would worry about the typical systemic effects - you can google them. Now of course a lot of them are based on therapeutic high dose systemic uses and there is very little data on chronic, micro-dose use… especially on the skin.

With skin my biggest concern (as with anything) is contact dermatitis. Rare but when it happens it is really nasty - blisters, erythroderma … like poison ivy/oak skin reactions.

I definitely would not put it all over your body. I use a dab of high potency tretinoin mixed in Cerave for my body. There are a ton of studies and experience with cutaneous use of tretinoin so I feel way more comfortable with it… and it works.

Stellar choice… well done!

hi @Dr.Bart I am curious about how they can can make a product with methylene blue that does not make the skin blue? If methylene blue is that good, then it might be a future DIY project. Any ideas?

that’s a question for the chemists

Wow what a great idea…liposomal…because when I take a capsule in the morning I do not sleep all night! I mean all night even if i take my usual sleepaids…magnesium taurate, L-Theanine, calcium, CBD gummies…nothing is effective if i have taken Orolithin A in the morning. I was going to ask if anyone here was making their own skin cream yet like with rapa or adding it to that?

You can make your own hyaluoronic gel. Just buy the powder from Amazon.,.20 bucks or so for a jar…mix 1 tablespoon into sanitary jar with about 2 tablespoons water and a couple of drops of glycerin…can add preservative if you widh. Just shake it up for while and leave it sit for a few hours or overnight…voila. gel.

Dr. Bart, I also found that article interesting when I read it some time ago. Being very practical-minded I considered the possibility of making a mixture of methylene blue, water and some transcutol to be placed in a sprayer bottle. Using the spray, followed by a red light panel seemed like a logical way to highly activate the methylene blue that absorbed into the upper layer of skin, but it just seemed too impractical to pursue. Whenever I thought about it I could imagine myself looking like a reject from the Blue Man Group for hours, maybe days, not to mention the patches of blue dye overspray everywhere in the bathroom. The next logical place to put the methylene blue would be in some type of body cream, but would an effective amount (not likely in current commercial creams that contain it) mean blue skin with that approach too? If methylene blue just weren’t so ā€œBLUEā€ it would be a no-brainer for me. And finally, with even more speculation on my part, take it orally at some unknown dose that would be effective. Then, go for a long walk in the early morning sun (for the red light at that time of day) or use a red light therapy panel as the methylene blue goes through the capillaries near the surface of the skin. It’s just speculation from a curious mind.

I make my own HA gel, but instead of water I use na-pca amino acid with aloe and add some taurine to it. It mixes really well. I don’t use water because it doesn’t penetrate skin. You need a carrier that would allow skin penetration.

I mixed some MB with a normal face cream. I apply it at night about twice per week. When I wash my face in the morning, there is no blue colour left on my skin.

Still feel that MB is more effective when taken orally. I quite like it together with my morning coffee.

Lowroad, What’s your formula? It sounds interesting.

Jay - It is not as sophisticated as a formula. I mixed MB with water in a bottle. I poor the equivalent of about 100mg/day in my coffee. I mixed some as well with a skin cream that I use on my face.

@LaraPo I’m missing what in your formula penetrates the skin. I use transcutol. What are you using? Thanks!

Also, @francesss7ca, Hyaluronic Acid can be gotten from Amazon or Bulk Supps very inexpensively if you get it in large quantities. Eg: Amazon.com

It’s na-pca amino acid, known as amino acid Proline, which I use as the main base. HA or other ingredients like vit C powder, taurine, etc. get completely dissolved in it. Sodium PCA is a naturally occurring hydrating ingredient.

Sodium PCA is a naturally occurring hydrating ingredient. Sodium PCA is a humectant that works as a hydrating agent and a skin-replenishing ingredient in a variety of skin and hair care products. Humectants are ingredients that help the skin to retain and preserve moisture. Humectants work by attracting water to the upper layers of the skin, giving the skin that plumped, hydrated look.

Sodium PCA is derived from naturally occurring ingredients such as plants, fruits, and oils. Sodium PCA is the sodium salt form of pyroglutamic acid; also known as the amino acid Proline. Amino acids form the base of all proteins. The salt form of the molecule allows it to be water-soluble or able to dissolve in water.

PCA is found in all living cells and can be extracted from ingredients such as coconut oil and seaweeds for use in skincare products.
