High ALT/AST levels

Didn’t you have side effects from statins?

Listen to podcast between Peter Attia and Thomas Dayspring.
Also with Allan Sniderman.
And possibly with John Kastelein.

Where does this ideal come from? I’ve more often heard 140 as an ideal max post meal.

I still can’t get my head around why short spikes are seriously harmful. As a signal of insulin resistance I can understand. Perhaps the high spikes overwhelm the defenses against AGEs which accumulate over many years? On the other hand, training the body to be ready for high glucose seems like a good thing (metabolic flexibility).

Is this one of those arguments without a solution at the moment?

So I met with the liver doc last month and everything else looked good. H took me off Atorvastatin and new bloodwork a week later showed the AST and ALT going down. I haven’t seen my GP yet, so I’m not on a new Staten and I’m still taking Ezetimibe and lisinopril. I should be going for another blood test in a few weeks and should be able to confirm whether the rise in ALT/AST was due to the Atorvastatin.
