A 100-year lifespan will bring many changes, most notably a 60-year career to fund it. But it will also change how society views aging, as the number of older Americans soars.
Many of today’s children can expect to live to the age of 100, an increase in life expectancy that will become the norm by 2050, according to the Stanford Center on Longevity. By the year 2100, there will be more than 25 million centenarians worldwide, according to the United Nations.
TBH - I could have retired 3 years ago at 65 years…
but, I love my work. Can’t imagine when… if I ever will retire. Lecturing on American medical history - all specialties is fun, and has a constant learning curve. Plus, I travel through the USA and Internationally as an authority… I am a sought after speaker.
Am I afraid of AI taking my job - replacing me?
Nope! AI needs my expertise and ability to connect pieces to feed the narrative it provides.
I just listened to two AI interviews based on medical research papers that I co-authored. The papers were solid… but not the thing you’d just sit down and do a deep dive on for fun. Focused reading - takes prioritize time. A limited commodity for many. The AI versions of my material can be played during a drive… or some task like painting… yard work etc. The paper turned into a conversation, hits all the key points and is damn entertaining.
I’m good with that – still working and would not have it otherwise. I appreciate, though, that not everyone is fortunate enough to get paid for the kind of work they might do for free if they could.
