FDA approves VIZZ eye drops that fix near vision without glasses

I’ve reading about the gut- eye axis. Regardless-whether you are taking good eye supplements like lutein - if you are consuming bad foods that stress the eye then you just treading water. Been reading about eye bacteria too - the proliferation of bad bacteria damaging the eye in vascular AMD- mentioned in this NIH article:
Targeting the Gut–Eye Axis: An Emerging Strategy to Face Ocular Diseases - PMC
Avoid:

  1. French fries & potato chips (acrylamide, AGEs, oxidized oils)
  2. Burnt toast & over-browned baked goods (acrylamide)

  4. Cookies, cakes, pastries, donuts (sugar, acrylamide, trans fats)
  5. Fried fast food (oxidized seed oils, AGES)
  6. Packaged snack foods (chips, crackers, margarine with seed oils)
  7. Charred/grilled red meat & BBQ

It’s annoying to see companies go for temporary solutions like this. These Vizz eyedrops don’t cure presbyopia or fix it, they just temporary improve it by causing muscle contractions in the iris muscle. If they really wanted to fix it they would attack the root cause of it, a main one being stiffening of the lens with aging.

There are actually interventions that could reduce that stiffening (lipoic acid choline ester) and improve vision and such treatments would actually cause a long-term improvement rather than just a temporary improvement. It’s frustrating that the companies are not trying to develop lipoic acid choline ester drops or similar tretatments. Maybe part of the reason is that it’s more profitable to market something that people will need to take every day rather than something that actually cures the condition.

Agreed Olaf… but, I just tried my prescription today.

Not VIZZ… but similar medication. Pilocarpine HCI 2%. Cost $27… month supply.

The fact I can read the 5 pt. type on the tiny bottle 8 hours post drops… is crazy.

From my eye checkup… eyesight is a perfect 20/20.

All day things look more clear. No side effects of headache or red eyes.

I could get use to this. 0ne drop in each eye in the morning and able to read small print easily.

I agree on this 100%. I suppose that eye drops are better than glasses, but we need a cure not a workaround.

How long have you been using them for and have you been using them every day? I might give them a shot.

This morning was day one for me Paul… hahaha.
But it will be my morning routine a drop in each eye when I log on the computer for work.

All day, I keep grabbing for my cheater glasses before reading emails, print outs or my phone messages… and realize I don’t need them.

Muscle memory. Lol
