May I ask what it was before you began FMDs?

@Neo My hsCRP has always been low. It popped up to 0.5 at the end of 2025 (recovering from illness). Prior to that, my hsCRP was between 0.2-0.24. Now it is reported to be <0.2. I don’t know how precise the tests are but I doubt a few tenths mean anything.

I mentioned it in my previous post to say that my efforts to keep my immune system healthy are succeeding but I did start from a healthy base. I wasn’t taking rapamycin for 6 months prior to this last hsCRP test, FYI.

Fmd is designed to protect muscle mass. So it’s more safe in all ways than water only fast.

I have done both the Prolon FMD several times as well as rapamycin. The latter did not seem to give a similar effect as the FMD as far as weight loss and autophagy effects, I actually have gained weight with rapamycin while eating the same diet as when I was not on it. I was also doing my normal exercise routine on rapamycin, while taking a break from it while doing FMD. Bottom line: the FMD works for what it claims to do, while rapamycin’s effects are less obvious.

Until you mentioned this, I completely forgot I put on 3-4 pounds when starting rapa. I just attributed it to feeling good… which means more energy for cooking etc.

Interestingly, I’ve been insatiable the last week and put on a couple pounds (which is fine with me)…… It just dawned on me I took my first big rapa dose last week. Due to having extra energy, I’ve been doing a ton of cooking…. hmmm, there could be connection but it also could be a coincidence.

I agree with your assessment of FMD. I find it a reliably powerful way to improve: HRV, chronic inflammation, digestion. I don’t find it a reliable way to manage body composition as I anticipate the FMD effort (a license to overeat). I’m better with a steady and slight calorie deficit.

As far as rapamycin is concerned, I have found many benefits that have some overlap with FMD. Mainly, rapa has reduced my body aches (chronic inflammation?), eliminated my allergies (immune reset?), increased my muscle vascularity (?). On the down side, rapamycin makes me vulnerable to infection in the day or two post dose, so there’s that to worry about.

But for feeling young again, I find spending a week in the Florida Keys scuba diving, swimming, bike riding in the sunshine has led to a stunning rejuvenation. I write this as I make my way back home. I slept 8 hours a night for 5 nights in a row for the first time since I was a teen. I suppose any adventure with the right person would work but sunshine and ocean water are amazing for me.

I just had the opportunity to try it myself after last post. I felt very positive about it and would give it more than 5 of 5 stars if I could. While doing it it felt a little bit like i was mixing between being in and out of the ketogenic fuel source. I still felt like I was eating all the time and could maintain the excitement of what to eat next. I felt more mental clarity during the fast and inspiration about doing things. However after the diet finished I could tell clearly that the positive effects were far better than a 2-3 days water fast which is what I can otherwise maximally do before giving up out of fear of collapsing of dizziness.

I felt more improved cognition and reduced inflammation from my chronic disease that outlast any water fast. I have CIRS which is a biotoxin illness giving me brain fog. I feel like the diet reversed my sensitivities. It also reversed more brainfog than any other fast.

In a water fast I feel certain improvements, but with the FMD the same improvements were better. I also went down almost 3 kg.

I asked the AI and it said that prolon corresponds to a 3-4 day water fast. However it has additional benefits such as stem cell regeneration.

I can’t post links but I found that there’s been done research to prove that stem cell regeneration is activated in prolon fmd after the last day and that the fasting mechanisms are working during the diet.
