I saw a thread recently discussing rapamycin and vision.
I have been wearing glasses since I was about 15 (so, 50 years). Some of my problems were due to astigmatism but I also had pterygium on my right eye. (Too much UV exposure in my youth!) Recently I noticed that I simply didn’t need my glasses as much. I did some reading and found that pterygium is driven by mTOR activation and that rapamycin is proposed to be a remedy for it. The pterygium on my right eye seems to be shrinking but I admit I don’t have measurements to support this. It is just subjective. But maybe that is what is reducing my dependence on glasses.

Pterygium could be a great candidate for a sirolimus or everolimus clinical trial. The condition can be measured and photographed. After a year of treatment compare the results with the control subjects. This condition is fairly common and the results seem less subjective than with periodontal disease.
