Customs Might Get Tighter Under Trump

Sadly, I have to agree with you. DJT’s idea is that tariffs will cause drug manufacturers to shift production to the US, so he is highly unlikely to drop them, rather the opposite, he promised increasing tariffs specifically for pharmaceuticals. Lowering prices will have to happen though some other mechanism.

I for one am putting my money where my mouth is, and stocking up to hit a 5 year supply amount. That will take me beyond the current presidential term. YMMV.

From an investment perspective if the political climate is unpredictable then it makes decisions to invest require higher certainty as to a profit. Hence as Trump’s policies on tariffs are not even consistent in his own administration, no one would be sensible to invest on a 10 year horizon (2 1/2 terms) based upon whatever the tariffs are this minute.

And Democrats can easily reverse the tariffs as early as January 2027. No sane company will invest now.

I placed 2 orders of 90 mg of Rapamycin from my long time pharmacy rep in India. Both shipments arrived safe and sound. About 3 weeks transit, maybe a little less.

I’ve just received some goods from UK and Germany but there were no additional markups in price. Still cheaper for me than buying there (at least the UK goods). I have a friend who reports he received a slightly large order of HCG just recently from India ok. We shall see.,

US should try and level drug pricing. I live in Spain and pay 130€ for one month of Ozempic, shot or oral. Jardiance 25 mg, 52€

Beware! I ordered two packages early May. The first arrived in 14 days no problem. Tracking shows the second one (and more valuable one) is at ISC in NY since 5-16. I expect that I will never receive it. Vendor is not offering any kind of compensation.

I have ordered from India numerous times. The only time I had a shipment seized was from Jagdish. That was probably my fault for placing a too-large order, resulting in a large package.

Out of caution, I have since kept my orders smaller, even though that is a little more costly.
I have placed three orders with Maulik since January of this year. I received the latest order on May 31.

My experience with Maulik is that he responds more quickly, and all orders are delivered from start to finish within three weeks.

My take is that larger packages are more likely to be flagged. Large packages may be even more likely to be flagged under the new tariff rules.

Agreed. That’s why I divided it into two orders. The one received though is half the value of the retained order. At least I got the one package. I doubt I will take any more chances with ordering from India.

I have a different attitude. Even if two out of three orders are seized, I am still way ahead on savings for the drugs I order from India. Most of the drugs I order from India are pennies on the dollar compared to US prices, and I don’t have to deal with doctors online or not to get prescriptions.

That’s a very good point. I suppose we have to accept some risk of loss. I am just concerned with this administration it will 3 out of 3 times lost.

I think it is random, I’d try to vary the recipient name and if it is a large order divide it into multiple packages. I don’t think the current administration is willing to hire enough people to increase the frequency of seizure, at least not on packages from India.

Has anyone paid tariffs on overseas packages during this period? I ordered several medical supplies from Canada last month and didn’t get a tariff bill.

I got two different packages from India, one just this week and no duty/tarrifs.
