I struggle with trying to decide if I should still be taking this one or not. I’ve been on it at least ten years. It’s a pricey one when taking the Ubiquinol form.
There seems to be mixed evidence. Apologies in advance for not posting every study here since it is time consuming. Just want to get thoughts from smart folks here.
Some studies showing benefit for heart failure and others showing little benefit.
Apparently no effect on blood pressure, cancer, or statin related muscle pain.
Also dropping it from my stack. I’ve been “mindlessly” buying/taking it for so many years that it’s just become a habit, but now I’m seriously wondering if it’s been inhibiting my training gains/goals this entire time.
I have it as part of my ATP enhancement stack, but I don’t have strong evidence for it or even an anecdotal response myself. It is, however, quite commonly used and part of the metabolism.
I think it’s an individual thing. I took it as recommended while taking a statin. I couldn’t say if I felt anything positive from coq10 as I definitely noticed a slow but steady decline in my cycling power after starting the statin. The coq10 didn’t stop that. After I started using GG my power has come roaring back. I am still taking co1q10 because I have some but I’m not planning to reorder.
From what I’ve read, taking GG should be much better as it addresses issues way upstream compared to CoQ10. However it’s not cheaper, quite the opposite.
I got a CoQ10 blood test and the result was 0.77 (range 0.37-2.2), 24 hours after taking 100mg of regular CoQ10. And this was BEFORE I started taking 5mg Rosuvastatin
I figured that’s the low end of the range so I should be taking it to bump it up a bit. It’s strange I never hear anyone bring up blood levels since it’s a measurable thing, unless there are flaws with the blood test I’m not aware of.
