CEO of America’s largest public hospital system says he’s ready to replace radiologists with AI

Only a matter of time(in our lifetime) that the majority of if not all “Medical / Medicine” will operate this way…nothing personal just $$$$$$.

First they outsource to India.

Now we just use software.

Do you want to be a radiologists?

People in the building trades will be paid more.

I have a radiologist acquiaintance that is convinced his job is safe. Their salaries are going up faster than other specialties and still popular as a residency spot.

It is widely recognized as the easiest field to “replace” even if they will be needed for a long time.

The flip side is the AI people who say everyone is replaceable. I am retired enough that I think I can be reasonably impartial. I think surgery is a fairly safe field. The robots in use now are really just remote control devices - they remove tremors, have 3D vision, and are good at right spaces and difficult angles. None of it is approaching replacing the operator. More like power steering and auto transmission than a self driving car.
