Interesting to note, with regard to rapamycin crossing the blood brain barrier (BBB) …
we considered known natural and synthetic high-affinity FKBP12 ligands (for example, FK506), rapamycin and SLF/Shield-1, but all of these compounds readily cross the BBB.
