BioAge begins Phase 2 BGE-102 trial

BioAge Labs announced September 8 that the first participant had been dosed in QUELL-DME, a randomized Phase 2 study of the oral NLRP3 inhibitor BGE-102 in diabetic macular edema.

Approximately 180 participants are planned, with topline data expected in the second half of 2027.

This is disease-specific rather than an aging trial, but BioAge explicitly develops drugs using human aging biology, and NLRP3/inflammaging remains relevant to the aging field. It therefore merits industry tracking without being promoted as gerotherapeutic evidence.
