Best Protein Bars

My apologies if this gets too commercial.

I’ve tried a lot of protein bars, with my goal being twofold:

  1. Low calorie to protein ratio - no more than 10 calories per gram of protein
  2. No GI upset

My Current favorites are:
Barebells
Fulfil
Atlas

Any recommendations? And Specifically, has anyone tried “David” bars which have really low calories, but are expensive.

I haven’t found a perfect one. Most are too sweet and have too many empty carbs. For being close to ideal and ease of access, I’ve settled on 180 calorie Pure Protein bars with 21 grams of protein and only 2 grams of dietary sugars, only one of which is added. The protein is mostly a mixture of Whey Protein and Whey Protein Isolate. No stomach effects at all. If they removed the one gram of added sugar they would meet my simple needs perfectly. I use them sometimes on hikes or at the end of a strenuous weight training session. Costco carries the variety pack for quite a bit less than other sources. Calories and protein levels vary slightly.

My goal is to develop a slightly sweet protein “ball” along the lines of Schwarzenegger’s recipe: Chocolate, whey protein, peanut butter, chia seeds, dates, maybe some oats, a little vanilla. Anyone have a favorite recipe along those lines?

The Pure Protein are less than $0.90 when Costco has them on sale and about $1.00 when not. I
